Nate21601

I'm currently trying to build a PC for my mother's fiance so he can start his hobby back up. He will only be using it for music production and web browsing.

$400 ain't much, looking at a cheap Ryzen build.

USD?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Bascially, you're looking at Microcenter for...

Ryzen 5 1600 - $50 + tax

ASRock B450M - $70 + tax (yes, motherboard is $10 more expensive but grants you a $30 discount on the bundle)

Then use the above builds for the rest.

The Pro4 is there for $69.99 as well which you recommended prior.

Nice thing about a 1600, you can scale GPU's pretty well later for when you get the itch to get that Ultrawide ;)

At that price point there's:

ASUS PRIME B350-PLUS

ASRock B450M Pro4

ASRock AB350 Pro4

I agree. I just figured the RX 550 would be nice if he wanted to play a game here or there.

Which one would you recommend? I forgot to mention that I have an old AMD gpu that I'm going to put in it.

I'd say the ASRock B450M Pro4 then, since it's what Luke recommended to begin with. He knows a bit more about the subtle differences between the lower end boards than I do. Here's the link:

https://www.microcenter.com/product/509732/b450m-pro4-am4-matx-amd-motherboard

Making the total build this:

https://www.microcenter.com/product/478826/ryzen-5-1600-32ghz-6-core-am4-boxed-processor-with-wraith-spire-cooler - $49.99 when bundled with the motherboard

https://www.microcenter.com/product/509732/b450m-pro4-am4-matx-amd-motherboard - $69.99

https://www.microcenter.com/product/509696/neo-forza-faye-16gb-2-x-8gb-ddr4-2400-pc4-19200-cl17-dual-channel-desktop-memory-kit---red  - $70.99

https://www.microcenter.com/product/513527/p1-500gb-3d-qlc-nand-m2-2280-pcie-nvme-30-x4-internal-solid-state-drive - $69.99

https://www.microcenter.com/product/507687/wn-91u3c-matx-mid-tower-computer-case---black - $29.99

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139201 - $45.99

Total: $321.94

Would I be able to use this PSU https://www.microcenter.com/product/485312/650-watt-80-plus-bronze-atx-semi-modular-power-supply ? Just so I could get everything at microcenter.

Thank you for the help.

It's risky. That's Microcenter's in-house brand. With PSUs we have a tier list on these forums and no one has ever tested the PowerSpec ones. That one could be solid or it could be a hazard to your components. Remember that the PSU is arguably the most important part of the build. Other PSUs at Microcenter are overpriced.

You could get this one:

It's solid albeit more than you need. Unfortunately Microcenter doesn't have the 450w variant :/.
