Is there really a difference between 280 Rad and 360 Rad ?

Hey guys, thanks for reading this post.  Initially I want to say many years ago last decade I got a Thermaltake Liquid Cooling, but you had to cut the cubes and screw it on,  It had a pump which was pretty big but it made zero noise zero audible. 

 

Fast forward to 2019.  I got my first AIO, which you can see in my signature.  I turn off every single fan in my case to zero rpm.  All you hear now is a loud ass pump that sounds like a mini fridge and its unbearable.

 

Who has a silent pump AIO ?  It also make a tiny buzz sound but mine is more now cus the pump died and continued to work and now it's settled in, but I must RMA it.  Right now with my voltage I get low 30's c and sometimes below that to twenties.  On load im getting 60's when playing a game.  My case has fitting for 240mm up top.  Im happy with my temps for this severe voltage Im using.  My question is would a 360mm rad take down my idle temps to 20's instead of low 30's and my load temps from 60's c to 50's c ?

If we went by the data from those two articles, 360mm AIOs doesn't offer that much more cooling performance over a 240mm AIO.

I really wonder why people care so much about idle Temps. It really doesn't matter, especially with 0rpm modes. 

 

A 360 would be slightly better than a 280 but negligible. The only thing (imho) that's actually improving noise is an air cooler. I'm seriously not going back to water (at least AIO) as air is just superior in terms of noise as well as Temps to some degree (pun intended).

Thanks chief you answered my question.  Thanks to all who replied.  Ill stick with my 280mm since I have no room for a 360.  Just wondering if I was losing out but thanks to Mira Yurizaki I see Im not really missing out and the 280mm is just fine.

The surface increase is only ~10-11% (36cm x 12cm vs 28cm x 14cm). At the same time the 280mm radiator is more compact and compatibility is higher. If a 280mm radiator is not sufficient, a 360mm radiator won't do much of a difference, in that case you need a 480mm one or bigger.
