It's never too late to pick up a good book and start reading. Lord knows the story you find in books is often a hell of a lot better than a many of the crap we're being spoonfed these days.

Wheel of Time series if you’re at all interested in Fantasy (it’s by no means a “standard” fantasy story.)

Otherwise I might recommend Jurassic Park and The Lost World by Michael Crichton. More modern day type sci fi. It’s what the movies were based on but the books are better.

Books are great. What kinda genre do you like?

I'm personally a huge horror fan, and would generally recommend Stephen King, Brian Keene, Jack Ketchum, Nate Southard, Thomas Ligotti, Max Brooks, Brian Lumley, Clive Barker (early works), and of course Lovecraft.

Tucker Max has written 4 hilarious short story collections that basically recount his drunken womanizing adventures, if you're into that kind of less-than-politically-correct comedy. Gavin Mcinnes's Death of Cool is another similarly funny anthology.

Charles Bukowski is highly regarded for a reason.

Cormac Mccarthy is one of my all time favorites, but he's definitely not for everyone.

If you're into fantasy, The Witcher series is pretty damn good, and of course A Song of Ice & Fire series.

Lately, I've also been reading Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series and loving it.

Ryzen 1600x @4GHz

Asus GTX 1070 8GB @1900MHz

16 GB HyperX DDR4 @3000MHz

Asus Prime X370 Pro

Samsung 860 EVO 500GB

Noctua NH-U14S

Molly Harper - Jane Jameson series,  Molly Harper - Half Moon Hollow series, Molly Harper - Naked Werewolf series (vampires and werewolves) : https://www.goodreads.com/series/46406-jane-jameson (all series related between them, same universe, easy reading and fun)

J.R. Rain - Vampire for Hire series : https://www.goodreads.com/series/51121-vampire-for-hire

Dakota Cassidy - Accidental series : https://www.goodreads.com/series/44248-accidentals

fun and light series about group of women who become non-human by accident (werewolves, vampires, mermaids) and help others cope with the changes

more serious

Julie Kagawa - Blood of Eden trilogy - post apocalyptic, vampires control cities all over after some kind of virus infected the world : https://www.goodreads.com/series/63328-blood-of-eden

Lara Adrian - Midnight Breed series (vampires as originating from alien invasion thousands of years ago) : https://www.goodreads.com/series/49140-midnight-breed

Linda Lael Miller - Vampire / The Black Rose Chronicles : https://www.goodreads.com/series/51147-vampire

Good books but were written in 1993-1996, not like modern vampires from true blood - still good stories, romance, vampire falling in love, good stuff.

Rachel Caine - Morganville Vampires

--

Anne Bishop - The Others : https://www.goodreads.com/series/99557-the-others

A cool series.. a sort of alternate Earth where the top of the food chain are a bunch of predator species that can shapeshift , a vampire like species, elementals and how they deal with humans - humans are restricted in how much land they can use for cities, growing food etc, and must trade with the "natives" who are powerful enough to exterminate humans if they want to

Richelle Mead - Georgina Kincaid series : https://www.goodreads.com/series/90081-georgina-kincaid

Cool series, main character a succubus which works in a book store (and has to have sex with people from time to time to make them sin and take a bit of their life), some vampires and demons also ... cool concept ...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you're into good science fiction, you should check out

Jean Johnson - Theirs Not to Reason Why Series  and First Salik War (action happens before Theirs Not to Reason Why series)

space opera, military .. great series though author tends to be very very descriptive ... some of the books could have 10% less text and still be great

humans with paranormal abilities (telekinesis, telepathy, precognition etc), interaction with other species,

first salik war - first contact with alien species , how humans deal with discovering other species, exchanging technologies etc

Quote

Theirs not to reason why:

...What if you could see the future? What if you foresaw that, three hundred years from your time, your entire galaxy would be destroyed in an overwhelming invasion? What would you do to stop it, when it would all happen long after you were dead and gone?

These are the questions that Ia must face, and the obstacles she must overcome. Spurred by her teenaged visions of an apocalyptic future, the young heavyworlder woman seeks to set up a series of events, a domino-chain of actions and repercussions that will hopefully stop the coming invaders long after her time has passed. But in order to do so, she must enter the military and engage in a four-front war: an old, barely contained enemy whose twin goals of galactic conquest and lunch terrify all sane sentients; an ancient foe whose technology vastly outstrips anything the Alliance can fling at it; a fanatic, xenophobic religious movement on her homeworld which Ia dares not stop; and her ongoing battle against Time itself.

Neal Stephenson - Seveneves  :  https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22816087-seveneves

Very good book about what would happen if the moon explodes and pieces of it fall on Earth causing a chain reaction which destroys everything on Earth and how humans have a limited amount of time to get as many humans in space as a colony so humanity can survive and so on... very interesting conclusion at the end

Evan Currie - NAC Odyssey : https://www.goodreads.com/series/79684-odyssey-one

Quote

Beyond the confines of our small world, beyond the well of our star, lies a galaxy, and universe, larger and more varied than any of us can imagine. Assigned the task of blazing man's first trail into that great unknown, Captain Eric Weston and the crew of the NAC Odyssey launch on a mission destined to make history.

Past the bounds of comfort, they encounter horrors and wonders beyond their imagining, with people and monsters beyond reckoning.

Odyssey One is the first voyage of the NAC Odyssey and its crew, and the beginnings of a Military Science Fiction Epic that combines both old school space opera, and modern storytelling in one great, exhilarating adventure.

Nalini Singh - Psy-Changeling : https://www.goodreads.com/series/41454-psy-changeling

An alternate Earth where there's normal humans and some humans with psychic abilities and shapeshifter species ... and those special humans decided to kill their emotions and work like they're in a hive mind (they can use telepathy to talk to each other or access information)

Quote

In a world that denies emotions, where the ruling Psy punish any sign of desire, Sascha Duncan must conceal the feelings that brand her as flawed. To reveal them would be to sentence herself to the horror of "rehabilitation" - the complete psychic erasure of everything she ever was...

Both human and animal, Lucas Hunter is a changeling hungry for the very sensations the Psy disdain. After centuries of uneasy coexistence, these two races are now on the verge of war over the brutal murders of several changeling women. Lucas is determined to find the Psy killer who butchered his packmate, and Sascha is his ticket into their closely guarded society. But he soon discovers that this ice-cold Psy is very capable of passion - and that the animal in him is fascinated by her.

Ruby Dixon - Ice Planet Barbarians , IceHome , : https://www.goodreads.com/series/151379-ice-planet-barbarians

women from earth abducted by aliens, manage to escape but crash land on some other planet where it's constantly freezing, make a new life with some aliens they find there.

Michelle Diener - Class 5 Series : Dark Horse, Dark Deeds, Dark Minds - https://www.goodreads.com/series/169743-class-5

women abducted from earth , artificial intelligence etc good trilogy

Veronica Rossi - Under the Never Sky : https://www.goodreads.com/series/69828-under-the-never-sky

Ann Aguirre - Sirantha Jax : https://www.goodreads.com/series/44705-sirantha-jax

Kimberly Derting - The Taking Series : https://www.goodreads.com/series/102604-the-taking

could have been condensed in a single book, but worth reading ... girl dissappears in front of her father on a highway and suddenly shows up ~ 5 years later, having the same age, no changes in her body, nothing and she thinks it's the next day, no memory of what happened to her

Evangeline Anderson - Brides of the Kindred  https://www.goodreads.com/series/58408-brides-of-the-kindred

Good series, species of alines attacks Earth, other aliens come to protect it and in exchange as for women as a genetic flaw gives them incredibly small female births so they go through galaxy looking for compatible species and Earth happens to be compatible.

Good stories in each book, plenty of erotic content, just a headsup in case parents would be opposed to sex in books

Grade Goodwin - Interstellar Brides - kind of similar concept to the above

OH ... and if you guys enjoy humans with supernatural abilities, you should check out Worm web series from Wilbow:

Website: https://parahumans.wordpress.com/

Quote

An introverted teenage girl with an unconventional superpower, Taylor goes out in costume to find escape from a deeply unhappy and frustrated civilian life. Her first attempt at taking down a supervillain sees her mistaken for one, thrusting her into the midst of the local ‘cape’ scene’s politics, unwritten rules, and ambiguous morals. As she risks life and limb, Taylor faces the dilemma of having to do the wrong things for the right reasons.

I made an epub version of the site for my own use, some may prefer to read it like this : John C. Wildbow McCrae - Worm.epub

Also, this is NSFW ... it's a series of LONG stories on a website that has free sex stories... but I promise it's a very good series :

The Adventures of Bela, the Vampire Girl : https://storiesonline.net/series/936/b-elas-world

May require a free account to read the stories.

It's about a vampire girl who gets "energized" by sex and blood and more aggressive acts (like cuts, being shot etc) ... it's a side effect of her being actually alien-human hybrid...

It's also about saving humanity, time travel, teleportation, parallel realities... really good stuff.

If you can get over these passages where there's violence and rough sex, there's a lot of good story.

Basically, the vampire is actually a hybrid from an alien species and humans, where the aliens were intelligent enough to transfer their "spirit" into these hybrid creatures in order to survive as their original bodies could not handle the solar radiation from our sun - their space ship's main engines were destroyed during an attack and there's no way to repair or produce fuel in our galaxy to leave so they decided to stay around Earth but they soon discovered that thousands of years in the future (~ 2500 in our time) our Sun would become unstable and cause big enough solar explosions to destroy Earth ... so for the last two thousand years they're using their ship and gravity pulls to move earth and ice and stuff and create an artificial moon behind Mars where humanity would be protected when the sun goes super sayan..

So  over some hundred years Sun goes gradually bad and people start living underground because radiation is too much, and cities get flooded, society devolves ...

meanwhile the vampire chick along with some humans she recruits and gives them extended life using her alien blood work on saving as many humans as possible to transport at the last minute to that artificial earth they create..

Lots of good content there. I’d most recommend the Legacy of the Force book series but the Mandalorian Armor is another favorite of mine and it’s more standalone.

Hello. I want to say that the Spielberg film is one of my favorite films, but still I think the book is better, and I recommend reading it. The beauty of Crichton, as a writer, is that he writes in some detail, sometimes to the point of boredom, but this does not negate the fact that the film is clearly visible in my head without Spielberg. I also try to write small stories similar to those of Crichton, I did not always succeed, and I found some good helpers for writing edusson.com. I hope with their help someday I will write something worthwhile.
