So I was just browsing through a local community website, then stumbled upon this. Basically they were discussing about if RAM speed would have a difference in gaming and, of course, in every debate, there are heated arguements, then there are haters.

Do you guys agree? Are we "noobs"? Is Linus the "hardware guru of the noobs"?

The more popular you get the more haters you get, some people have a goal to pull others down. Same with me, I love linus but i want Cit cases to fall.

While I don't really care what linus says (as in it won't change my mind easily since I also know what I'm doing/talking about and grew up teaching myself), I am a hardware enthusiast just like him and like checking whatever it is he is talking about and listen what his opinion is and compare it with mine.

Ram speed does not make a difference in gaming and anyone stating otherwise are simpletons. Ram speeds are increased for workload purposes and maybe gaming on an APU.

A friend of mine is running 3 GB DDR 2 800 MHz ram in his rig with a GT 640 + pentium dual core E6500 clocked to 3.5 GHz and can game with games maxxed out at 1600 x 900. If ram speeds really made such a difference he'd have a bottleneck atop an outdated system and shouldn't be able to do much.

I personally have 1333 MHz ram and tried a friend of mines 2400 MHz sticks in my pc and the performance difference was non existent proved it to him and he was super mad that he payed so much for a marketing gimmick labeling those ram sticks of his as "gaming ram" lol. I do however overclock my ram to 1600 MHz just because I can.

Well not to be a bitch, but faster is always better... it can just go to the point where we (mere humans) simply don't notice the change anymore.

Linus doesn't offer a great in depth look at hardware, yeah, but that doesn't mean it's catered to noobs.

I love the format because I can absent mindedly watch whatever the days video is when I get home from work and packing my crap up and get a basic rundown of what the product does. Then later on I'll look elsewhere and have a decent look at what the tech specs are in detail and read a proper review :) Or if I'm not interested in the product I can just leave it be and I still will have an okay understanding what it is and what it does because of LTT :)

I get bored at in depth explanations. I know how most things work and if not I research it, Linus just gives a quick review of real world performance differences.

Well if you see a difference in framerate, by all means go ahead, ~2 fps at max is all you'll get extra which is under margin of error imho.

does it matter what a guy on your local website who was behind a monitor wrote on the internet? Does that guy's post really make a difference? Is it significant?

People like Linus, and hell, even Anand, are bound to have some who don't like what they do and those people exist no matter what people like Linus do. And honestly, they don't matter.

So close this thread and let's move on.

That's why I posted this in Off Topic because I was just sharing. Don't get too serious.

Yeah, Linus is such a noob that every time Nvidia, AMD and Intel finish work on their latest Thousand dollar product they send it straight to him for reviewing and public promotion.

Net nobodies are all over the place, tell them their wrong and why them move on,  or stay and fight. ain't no biggy.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

Well I guess if I compare my tech knowledge to Linus' tech knowledge...I'm a HUUUUUUUUUUGE NOOB and know NOTHING lol. But no...Linus is like the best techy guy I've seen so far. Everytime I watch the WAN show he spits out a buncha tech terms and I just stay confused listening in awe.

I have a lot of respect for guys like Chris and Anand. I acknowledge openly if asked that much of my knowledge has come from them over the years and they definitely know more than me.

I've always felt that my content should SUPPLEMENT and not REPLACE formal, in-depth written reviews, and I think if you approach LTT videos from that perspective, they will make much more sense.
