Spare hard drives - idea to speed up OS?

dgsddfgdfhgs

I got some spare hard drives different size and brands, want to see if there is any way to speed up OS little bit for snappiness.

For my HTPC, it only has a H61 mobo, doesnt native support raid0.

tried win10 storage pool(software raid), but cant be used on C drive (OS)

a 120 gb ssd would get you a quicker OS than a bunch of hdds, here in the US there are a handful of options from $20-25

Of course ssd does the job, want to kind of "recycle" the bricks of HDD.

not willing to spend any more on the cost that the ssd alone is greater than the PC I got, so no ssd.

OS on main HDD, critical programs on another, so you can run widows and a program separately.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

the lags I faced werent at the programs yet, quite noticeable occasion lags at right clicks on task bars/ file explorer like more than 1 second delays. 100% disc as expected.

but the games are running fine.

If you want to increase speed, you can create a RAID 0 volume with the HDDs. You'll be told it's a horrible idea because if one drive dies, you lose everything. But that's just par for the course. I ran RAID 0 HDD's, they were much faster than a single HDD, but slower than 1 SSD for comparison. As long as you keep a backup of important things in the event one of the drives dies, you'll be fine.

Any way to achieve that?

I am aware of the bad things, but it got no important data,

its on a gigabyte H61 DS2 which doesnt support raid 0

If the MB doesn't support it, then you can setup RAID 0 in Windows; however, it'll only be able to be used as a storage device and not for the OS, so you'll gain no benefits from that.

If you want to boost your OS and boot times, then you'll have to look at SSD or a new MB that supports RAID 0.
