I used to like Alienware (quite a few years ago) but wow fuck them if I'm honest, that is pathetic

either it is for warranty purposes or they are using laptop hardware. Alienware is not going to be the only one that is not upgradeable. I'm not sure why people are getting so annoyed about this. If you are going to upgrade one anyway then you will most likely have the skill to build your own steam box anyway.

not really. A lot of the casual crowd even will just want to throw in a new GPU after a few years. They may not do it themselves but somebody will help them with it. Similar to how laptop owners buy more RAM when they think their system is slow.
