Not much point spending money on an old system like that. Better off putting the money you would spend towards a new system.
Keep the graphics card, the case, and the AIO cooler. Sell the CPU and the DDR3 RAM. Dispose of the dead motherboard and damaged PSUs.

Buy a new CPU, motherboard, RAM (DDR4), and PSU. I would also recommend an SSD if you don't already have one for windows.

So I got an hp h8-1223 from a friend after i lost everything in storm sandy. ive been slowly upgrading parts ever since. got a 750ti, then a new psu so i could run it. recently i got a gtx 1060 3gb and a bunch of other small upgrades like a new case and liquid cooling. everything was great til tonight. i got a bunch of random resets (i was able to boot back up, but after about a minute everything would freeze and become unresponsive).
i figured the issue was the new odd brand modular psu i had just gotten, so i wanted to swap back to one of my old ones just to check if that was the issue. thats when i came across that the 12v connector on the mobo had melted and fused with the power cable. i was about to get it off, and i continued figuring it was this weird psu, and then i checked out my old one, and the one before that, and both of those have small melts in the same exact pin. so now i dont know whats going on. i dont know what caused the melt, why it wasnt a problem for the last couple years with the last 2 psus, and i dont know how to describe this to try and get it taken care of. do i need a new mobo? (wont i then need to reinstall windows, or am i nuts) do i need a new psu?
i have a lot of irreplaceable pictures on my computer, and much more important saved game progress. id prefer whatever is easiest to get me back to where i was. im broke or id just get a new computer. any help at all is extremely appreciated. thank you

whats the wattage, brand, model, ect.. on the psu?

if its a malfunctioning psu you might be covered by warranty, if not you will need a new psu and motherboard for sure and possibly a new cpu if it was putting that much into the cpu power...

in 2015 i got the evga 430w, a month ago i got a "silencer 750w", and a week ago i got the scorpio 535w.
i never noticed the melt on the evga or silencer til i looked. i used the evga for years, and havent used it in over a month, and all of them have the melt.

You may want to look into grabbing a replacement motherboard. And maybe not use that power supply that you caught with a melted cable, just for the sake of safety.

In my experience in swapping motherboards, the Windows license will invalidate. However, I was able to call up Microsoft and ask them if they can activate Windows on a new motherboard, and they asked for proof of purchase, and I scanned my Micro Center receipt (or screenshot your invoice), and they straight up gave me a key. Worst case scenario, your Windows will become inactivated. You won't have to reinstall Windows, except in very rare cases when you're running an older OS like Windows 7 and there are no SATA drivers for the new board you use, in which case your only option is basically to install Windows 10 and rely on generic Microsoft drivers.

Also, it is incredibly easy to pull data from a hard drive. I have yet to encounter a game where I can't drag and drop save files from one drive into the game's save directory on a new install and have it play right where I left off. It is a matter of asking around where saves are located for the game in question on forums. And, well, pictures are just files, so you can just put them wherever you want.

all of my power supplies have had a slight melt in the 12v connector, so im not sure whats safe. i guess i'll be checking pcpartspicker for something compatible until microcenter opens. i got windows 10 when it was a free update, and i never actually changed motherboards so that was a fear i had. as long as its just reactivation im fine with that ha

it was actually booting. it would turn off, i would turn it on and get about 30 seconds. i thought it was overheating, but it never stopped booting. i could probably boot it now if i wanted to put a nail in the coffin haha

Any AM3+ board will work. Preferably not a OEM (Dell, HP, Acer, etc) one.

Some AM3 boards will work but it depends on the board.
