I kind of don't see them partnering with the usual AIBs at launch. Or flipping it the other way around, the AIBs wanting to partner with Intel for a brand new product.

Two of these things don't line up for me

  • "4D XPoint"? I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt that someone slipped, but as far as I know, "4D XPoint" isn't a thing.
  • A feature level of Direct3D 14_2 would imply there's a DirectX 14 in the works (also 14 would make sense considering the US's superstition against 13, so it's reasonable to expect Microsoft to skip "DirectX 13"). However, there's also no word about a brand new version of DirectX even being hinted.
