What is happening with new GPUs

I have noticed that all the new GPUs have crappy coolers or they have Ugly looking Cooler especially from EVGA.

Just look at their Cooler for their base model 2070 it has clear plastic and IMO it looks crap.

Even with the 2060, it has a weird 3 slot cooler.

The MSI ventus cards which are the MSRP ones have a plastic backplate which makes cooling worse.

The PASCAL cards were so good with their FTW coolers and MSI's GAMING X cooler why are we getting worse cooler designs when we are paying more for these GPUs

the back plates have no impact on cooling, its a myth that has been busted long ago, even full metal back plates are just for the look and not for cooling.

generally everyone is trying to cut cost so they always gonna go for the cheapest possible option they can find.

The new trend is vertical GPU mounting. Manufacturers found that using metal decals doesnt have any considerable help in cooling so they switched to plastic. Also to sell their cards at higher profit since obviously msrp of cards have rised, they used these measures. Its useless to discuss this.

Well the new GPU's draw a lot of power and can get hot, especially the higher end ones.

 

So the coolers actually did need to get larger.

 

The FTW3 cards have great coolers and DO keep the cards cool.
