Posted January 23, 2014 i cant do this because its where my hard drives are Well unless you have loads of hardrives then you can just cut the bottom bays out. Thats what i did Rig Specs: AMD Threadripper 5990WX@4.8Ghz Asus Zenith III Extreme Asrock OC Formula 7970XTX Quadfire G.Skill Ripheartout X OC 7000Mhz C28 DDR5 4X16GB Super Flower Power Leadex 2000W Psu's X2 Harrynowl's 775/771 OC and mod guide: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/232325-lga775-core2duo-core2quad-overclocking-guide/ http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/365998-mod-lga771-to-lga775-cpu-modification-tutorial/ ProKoN haswell/DC OC guide: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/41234-intel-haswell-4670k-4770k-overclocking-guide/ "desperate for just a bit more money to watercool, the titan x would be thankful" Carter -2016
 Thats what i did well as you can see in these pics hps have a shitty desiign for the hdds so there is no physical way of doing that HP Pavilion Elite HPE-421f Intel Core i7 870 DIAMOND HD7750 GPU MS-7613 MOTHERBOARD 6GB RAM 600-WATT PSU
 Posted January 23, 2014 well as you can see in these pics hps have a shitty desiign for the hdds so there is no physical way of doing that ok that is a weird mounting position. i think the best thing would be to get a 92 or 120mm fan on the side panel above the cpu that will intake air. you could either drill some holes or use the existing holes to put screws to the fan and hold it on. alternatively you could cut the hdd bay out and move it above where the cpu is and bolt the bay to the bottom of the case using a few m3 or m4 nuts and bolts then mount a 120mm fan in the front, this would require a bit more modding though. the final option is to remove the hdd bays completely and get a 5'25" to 3'5" bays adapter so the hdd is in the second optical bay which again would allow you to put a fan in the front. the first option is easiest but i think the last option would give the best airflow. Those holes will fit normal fan screws. ^^^^ That's my post ^^^^ <-- This is me --- That's your scrollbar --> vvvv Who's there? vvvv
 Posted January 25, 2014 hi im new to the forums my system specs are in the link below http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/kb/docDisplay/?javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.prp_ba847bafb2a2d782fcbb0710b053ce01=wsrp-navigationalState%3DdocId%253Demr_na-c02575956-16%257CdocLocale%253D%257CcalledBy%253D&javax.portlet.tpst=ba847bafb2a2d782fcbb0710b053ce01&sp4ts.oid=4269972&ac.admitted=1390188496275.876444892.199480143 i have upgraded my gpu to the diamond hd 7750 oc i am using realtemp 3.70 to monitor my temperatures and i noticed that my cpu was reaching 65 degrees celcius(maximum) while playing bf3 so i decided to replace the thermal paste. i thouht i applyied a little too much because when i played bf3 (after replacing the thermal paste for the first time) i was reaching about 75-78 degrees celsius and when i ran prime95(large FFT) after about 20 seconds the computer would just shut down. so after about a 2-3 weeks i found time to try replacing the thermal paste i found that i had used waaayyyy too much thermal paste. it over flouted all over the pace so i cleaned it with tissue paper and 99% rubbing alcohol in the process of cleaning the cpu i took it out of the motherboard and after cleaning everything up i noticed that i managed to get thermal paste on the gold connectors at the bottom of the cpu. i tryed cleaning it with no luck. i applyed thermal paste just a little this time but when i play bf3 or bf4 i still get 65 to 73 degrees celcius and frame rate(in bf4) is unstable 50-80 fps low settings and once in a while it huccups to 8-10 for a couple of seconds. please help do you think the thermal paste on the gold connectors could be causing problems? Wow....that sucks....first get another case or start modding your existing one for better airflow/fan placement. If you decide on new, should be plenty of mid towers for a good price. Dont think you screwed the CPU, and 65 is not bad, especially on stock cooler. Upgrade cooler and use quality TIM such as Artic Silver, Icy Diamond (personal favorite for both CPU and GPU), or whatever you decide. BF4 is well, rought right now....and using a 7750, don't believe your gonna be hitting high FPS. Third, when cleaning a CPU of paste, use coffee filters (no lint) and a quality cleaner specific for the task. Iso alcohol is good alternate, but no tissue please....thing is take your time when inside your PC...not worth rushing and doing damage to components.
