Without trolling, Tell me why I should upgrade. (With stats and facts.)

EagleFlyt

This is my Build. I have a 55" TV because I have a hard time seeing things on small monitors.

55" RCA 60hz 1080p TV.

i5 - 8600K

Gigabyte Z370 Aorus Ultra Gaming Wi-Fi

Aorus GTX 1060 6G GDDR5

16G DDR4 2660 Dual Channel Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer (yes I may want to upgrade this as I had planned originally)

2 x 500GB Samsung Evo 860

Ok, here is why I have this question. Yes I know I can upgrade memory and SD to get a little better of a situation in those regards. But with the bottleneck of the TV (Because I can not afford a Newer 55" TV that works with a PC properly) I do not see a reason to upgrade my computer much more than that. I play plenty of games on the high end spectrum of Graphics, and can still play most of them on High to Ultra settings and still have over 80-100 FPS on those titles. Such as Just Cause 3 and 4, Battlefield 1 and 5, etc. and nearly 160 and above on FPS for titles like World of Tanks, World of Warships, WOW, etc. So knowing all this, Why should I upgrade? Especially with the TV Bottleneck.

P.S. I am curious as to why LMG has not made very many videos for the Mid Tiers of Intel and AMD? Such as the Intel i5-8600K that I use. If they have, I can not seem to find it on youtube. But it seems like they only test the High end stuff on benchmarks unless doing "Value Builds" Like the latest video with Linus and Anthony. LMG if you are watching this, can we have more videos for us poor people who can not afford the Higher end items? More specs on things like the 8600K and 1060's vs. 1070 TI's and things like that?

Need to NO, should YES. But just the GPU, the i5-8600K is a good CPU, you can get a 1660ti

If I did upgrade to the 1660 Ti, what would be the difference though? Especially with the TV? Just curious?

Why are you asking us to convince you to upgrade? Nobody should upgrade if they're happy with what they have, and you have a pretty great system.

What? We wont try and convince you to upgrade if you are already happy with the performance you have. Dont waste money on upgrades you dont need

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

I forgot that you had the tv, it would be good just with a 144hz monitor

I guess I am trying more to convince myself. The "Convince Me" Was more a title that I thought of based on the Convince me Meme. I couldn't think of a better one sorry.

I would personally through in an M.2 if you have a slot for the increased read and writes. There are TVs out there that have >60hz refresh rate and are not too pricey. Do not get a 1660 ti, wait a little longer and see if this was just a publicity stunt from Nvidia.

Overall, your system seems to be just fine, but if you wanted more RAM, go for it. It isn't needed, but its nice to have more right? OR upgrade it to a faster speed. Either or will be fine.

I guess my question is what do you not like about it and want to upgrade?

M.2 is just a form factor. You mean NVMe/PCIe, but even that wouldn't actually make a difference in gaming.

I suppose the other reason I am asking this is because I am trying to figure out honestly, why anyone wants to upgrade to the 600-900$ CPUs and GPUs that everyone is talking about if the 50$-200$ items work just fine and have so little difference between them in performance. I am not understanding the differences I guess.

I Have thought about upgrading to an NVME as well, but like Joostin pointed out, it doesn't do much for gaming. Just loading times.

And that was my thought as well, a Faster speed RAM is the reason I was thinking of Upgrading that.

Most people aren't gaming on RCA TV's. That makes a big difference. Also if you're using your computer for streaming or content creation, you need to have more power. But often people do it because there is a stupid pressure to upgrade. People often buy stuff just because they see famous youtubers have it.

Unless you upgrade to a higher resolution TV there is no benefit to upgrading other parts, and as long as you're happy with that TV it would be financially irresponsible to buy something else.

M.2 do increase gaming a little bit by decreasing the load times. Not the actual gaming persay but the waiting for the new map to load to get back into gaming faster.

If you are fine with your current performance, don't upgrade. Personally I would hate to play on a TV, especially a big one with a relatively low resolution, but if that works for you then all the power to you. The reason people spend more is because they want different things:

- High refresh rates (100+)

- Higher resolutions (1440p, 4k)

- Streaming

- Productivity

- Bragging rights.

IMO the 1060 is a very nice card for 1080p, 60fps gaming and nothing in you system looks to bottleneck it, so you are good to go until you change your TV to a monitor with higher refresh rate (which you don't want) or a 4k TV.

That's not necessarily true. It's 4k read speeds that matter, and an 860 Evo is going to outperform lots of NVMe drives there.

The real benefit to NVMe drives is experienced when handling large files, like in video editing.

Edit: I hate the mobile website. It just removed a huge chunk of my post. I don't feel like typing out several paragraphs again, so just Google SSD controllers.

55" 1080p tv as the main screen? Well, upgrade it to a 4K TV if you have to use the TV as a monitor. 55" 1080p has pixels the size of wall bricks. That is if you're not sitting some 3-4 meters away from the screen.
