I've been fighting with Win10 to F off since I got it. 

Hey Linux these tech tips are pretty OLD... Micro$oft has new tricks eh? Any pointers?

 

Step 1 

Is obviously burn your own fresh media and install that on your system that was bundled with Windows....

 

Step 2 

Follow all the steps, all around the internet to KILL CORTANA and MS telemetry data.

step 2: install

step 3: profit

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Plus my Ubuntu chokes internet whenever I download something.... Profit? Not atm

Just run the windows 10 debloat script. It’s a simple powershell script that uninstalls and strips all the garbage from windows 10. It does things like make auto update impossible, removes all telemetry, gets rid of things like bing search and cortana

The recommendation of completely disabling updates for the average user is some bad advice,IMO. Yeah it sucks the updates install automatically but those updates are meant to give you the latest patches. I mean most of the more recent exploits and attacks have been affecting Windows 7 installs especially ones that aren't up to date.  If you want to delay updates get Win10 pro, or if you only play games on your PC disable the updates and try a Linux dual boot.

There are ways to disable auto updates which is the best option as I agree disabling updates is a horrible idea

My main desktops is still Windows 7, with a SSD it boots quick enough.

 

Use a little Windows 10 laptop with a touch screen for school, it’s ok.

 

All in all, I’m sticking with W7 for as long as I can.

 

As for security concerns, just use an Ad Blocker when online, that’s it. Don’t go to any shady sites or use weird software either though.
