Mobo Upgrade from AM3 to AM4?

Hey guys, recently purchased an RTX 2070. Quickly found out that my poor old FX8320 isn't quite cutting it anymore, so it's time to upgrade to Ryzen 2nd gen for a stop gap until Ryzen 3rd gen comes out.

I currently have a ASUS Sabertooth R2.0 mobo, looking for suggestions on an AM4 board that has same/better features as my current one? Not really up-to-date on AMD boards, I know Ryzen needs a lot of RAM, so 4 DIMM slots are a must have, as is USB 3.x.

I've had a look on Amazon, and wondering if the Strix boards are any good? Not quite sold on the Crosshair platform, as I had an AM3 Crosshair V board and it died within 2 weeks of ownership without overclocking, but maybe I should give it another chance?

Any help is much appreciated!

I'd stick with picking up 400 series since they're generally better than the 300 boards. Nothing wrong with your suggestion, I just wanted to point it out.

The Sabertooth board is pretty killer, you must be after deluxe features

Any decent AM4 board will have 4 dimm slots, and consider 3.1 instead of settling for 3.0

I was looking at getting something that's X470 tbf. Only just read up on the chipsets like 10 mins ago.

The board doesn't have to be ASUS though, I'd be happy with any well known board OE.

Gigabyte's boards are very feature rich for the price, they offer tons of connectivity. I used an Aorus ultra gaming and at only $120 it has such a bounty of USB, as well as a 3.1 internal header for even more HSIO. On top of dual M.2, solid power delivery, metal coated PCIe slots, and really robust options for RGB connectivity, it's a killer value.

Sounds good! Will check it out, though I hate RGB.

RGB is optional, and can be manipulated in the BIOS.

Looking at that board, I'd be concerned with the clearance of the heatsink on the I/O with my Noctua DH-15 cooler. :/ Might have to look at something else.

For anyone reading this thread;

I've gone with a Gigabyte X470 AORUS ULTRA GAMING Mobo. It's compatible with the Noctua DH-15 according to Noctua's website.
