If you have Windows 8 already, I see no reason why not to upgrade. If you're rocking Windows 7, it gets a little stickier.

I upgraded straight from 7 to 8.1... many would say that its not worth it to do that but if you are hungry for a speed increase you cant go wrong. I see this bandwagon of people hating on windows 8 and I still cant get their logic to make sense. I would say it is more than worth it.

If your on Windows 7 I wouldn't bother.  Either way I would wait until windows 9, because right now if you get Windows 8 and upgrade to Windows 8.1 its hell to get it reinstalled.  And us people... reinstalling is a part of life.

Windows 8.1 is hard to get used to from the start but after a while it ends up being just as, if not more efficient than windows 7. Most of the missing aspects of windows 7 in windows 8 only apply to a small minority of the users in retrospect.

My System Specs: (Short list) i7 4770k, GTX 780, many SSD's, a 2 TB HDD(deceased :( ), Corsair 650D. Full list: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/kchriz6097/saved/8dh7YJ

Upgrade Plan: Acquire some Black Noctuas then add 16 or 32GB of 2133MHz memory

if you really want quick boot times, yeah, and if oyur already on win 8 yeah, but not if you satisfied with win 7

Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof.

As I get older I get angrier more cynical, meaner. I feel some warning posts coming. I feel a ban coming. I was warned.

For someone already used to running Windows 7, I would say it's not worth it at this point.  Of course eventually we will have to upgrade whether we want to or not.  :(

Windows 8.1 is nice I like it, the added speed was a nice touch as well. I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 for BF4 and the speed improvement was well worth it. I downloaded Start8 and I don't even see the Metro screen anymore that being said I installed it 3 months after using Windows 8.1 and really haven't used the "Start Menu" that much so over time you get use to it. Overall Windows 8.1 is a great upgrade I enjoy it a lot I say go for the upgrade.

Motherboard: MSI-990FXA-GD65 | CPU: AMD FX-8350 @ 4.3Ghz | CPU Cooler: Corsair H100 | RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz | GPU: MSI GTX 770 Lightning @ 1300Mhz CC and 8000Mhz MC | Case: Fractal Design ARC Midi R2 | PSU: Corsair AX850 | OS: Windows 8.1
