Are the seagate ironwolf's ideal for a budget NAS?

I'm planning on getting a budget single drive NAS before I eventually upgrade to a 4 drive next year, would the 'pro' drives be a little overkill for my current use case?

I was actually considering the ironwolf drives for a Nas, versus the WD reds. There's little difference so I would say get the cheapest drives suited for a Nas you can find since there would be little difference, until you get to the real expensive ones that is, like a WD gold.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

 

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

 

How many watts do I need? ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explained, group reg is bad

IMO, they are perfect.. I have 4x 4TB ironwolf drives in my main PC right now, whilst I'm still deciding on the final parts for my NAS rebuild. They are quieter IMO than the WD red drives.

If you assume ALL hard drives will fail at some point in time or another (and they will) AND you have a proper backup solution in place, then the maker of the drive doesn't matter

I've had 4 x 2TB Ironwolf (non-pro) drives in RAID 5 working in my Synology 918+ NAS for 12 months without any issues.
