I've been programming on ROBLOX for about 8 years. Easy to learn, good documentation on what specific commands do, very powerful if you learn enough. Ignore the stigma and try it. After that, maybe Java script and then Java or c#

I probably should have started there. I just jumped straight into Unity when I decided to try it (in middle school) and now I still use unity

I tried unity out but funilly enough found that I liked the way ROBLOX does it better.

ROBLOX uses LUA, but a modified version that doesn't need anything like semi colons or curly brackets. The cookbook https://developer.roblox.com/learn-roblox/all-tutorials is a good place to start, and there's plenty of videos on YouTube. My username is jman116 if you wanna add me.

That could be made on roblox. A nice thing about it is that it has built in player controls, cameras, multiplayer, health systems, inventory systems, you name it.

I would first learn the basics of scripting (which is what programming is called on roblox) and then look at tutorials specific to what you want to do, such as ray cast laser guns, saving ranks after the game closes, and stuff like that.

Roblox has built in classes that you can manipulate. And you can program the gun to do a specific amount of damage, at a specific range.

Yeah, it's my username and the # is 0000. My username on roblox is jman116. I can give you some code to look at as you work along tutorials if you'd like.

everyone prefers what they are most comfortable with, doesn't mean that it is the right tool for the job.

Just experiment with different learning resources such as You-tube and Udemy. You will never learn all coding in a year, but you can have a good grasp on certain aspects of it. My biggest advice would be, just learn to use Google, I don't mean that in an offensive way, but Google has such much information out there, it's a great tool for you to use.
