GPU running loud and bad fps.

Speedsterx7

So, I've recently upgraded from a 1060 to a Vega 64 Arez Strix and this card very loud/hot...

Before upgrading, I would get around 80-90 fps in most of my games at 1080P...

now I'm still getting around 90-150 but it's never consistent.

Is due to me not having a free sync monitor? I do get a lot of screen tearing though.

Please, I just bought this card 2 days ago and I'm not sure what to do.

Yes its hot and loud

Not consistent frames could be a cpu bottleneck

And for the screentearing set enchanced sync to on in global settings

Let's agree to disagree

i7-7700k.

Can't be a cpu bottleneck.

I'm thinking about replacing it for a 2070 or wait for the Radeon 7 GPU...

1060 to v64 is not a huge jump. may i ask why you made the upgrade?

Yes it is.

Vega 64 is over 65% faster then a 1060.

That’s what I plan on doing honesty. May even consider going up to a 2080, never buying an AMD gpu ever again.

Im really not sure why you're having issues with your V64, but don't take it as a perminate no to AMD! I currently have an RX580 that I've had no issues with, nor have I ever had an issue with an AMD product over the years. Before you flat out give up on it, RMA the GPU and see if it has the same issue.

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)

I understand but many other people are having issues with the GPU. I’m playing a game for about 15-20 minutes and it’s already 80 degrees and my whole system is burning hot.

Did you uninstall old drivers with DDU? there could very likely be a driver conflict.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

basically the same thing.... 1070ti oc is about as power hungry as v64 and performs about the same.

Prob a overheating issue so the card is throttling.

There's a reason so many makes fun of the Vega cards as hot ovens. Now you know.

Have you undervolted at all? It's pretty mandatory on vega cards and you'll probably see a good increase in framerates. Just undervolt and overclock to squeeze as much as you can out of the card.

8086k Winner BABY!!

I haven't heard much in the way of V64 issues, so I can't comment there. I will admit I haven't been looking either, as Vega was never an architecture that interested me.
