**Thoughts on new PC build for my family member**

Hey everyone,
Going to be building a new pc for one of my family members since their one was purchased almost 6 years ago and he is in need of a upgrade. He is runs his own online business and his daily use involves chrome (with a shit tonne of tabs open at once), skype, photoshop, a bit of gaming here and there. Any thoughts on how to improve this build or make it better value would be greatly appreciated! Wanting to give him a computer to match his needs while not being too heavy on the bank.

PARTS LIST:
CPU: Ryzen 7 2700
MOBO: ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING ATX
RAM: 2x8 Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB (2x8gb) 2666mhz
PSU: EVGA 750W 80+ Gold Fully Modular
GPU: GTX 980 4GB (Donated from me)
HDD and SSD: From his previous build.

Also one quick question,
Does the difference between 2666mhz and 3000mhz ram matter that much with Ryzen? Just trying my best to save his wallet.

Drop to an R5 2600, drop to a 550w PSU. You can probably get away with a cheaper motherboard as well.

I'm new to this type of stuff, but I don't think you'd need 750 watts. From what I can tell, a 500 watt PSU would be plenty

I agree with the other 2 posts, the first thing I noticed was that power supply is way overkill.  You can put a nice EVGA 550W Bronze Semi or Fully modular in there and be completely fine while saving money, or go silver/gold if you really want to (but not 750 Watt unless he plans to running 2x mining GPUs on the side with it).

I also agree that unless he does video editing or something that really needs 8 cores, it's likely that a 6 core Ryzen 5 2600 will be more than enough to handle photoshop (and also help the budget).

As far as ram, the answer is YES the Ryzen CPUs really like faster RAM, but they typically top-out on ram speed around 2933 so I'd get a less gamery motherboard (a good featured B450 board is fine, doesn't need to have gamer in the name or have extra frills) and get ram that supports at least DDR4-3000.  But since Ryzen can be picky about what RAM it likes, make sure to buy a RAM kit that the motherboard model has listed as quality tested (they'll have a big list on their support page for the model of motherboard).  As long as you stick to their list and use faster DDR4, you'll have a better time of it.
