Help deciding

Mike40

Hi, Im Maikel. I'm building my rig and I want to go high end, I've been doing some research and already got the I9 9900k, and on my way to get the MSI Z390 GODLIKE motherboard, also want to put an RTK 2080, is going to take me some time because these parts are expensive, but I think is worth the wait. Please tell me what you think . I also need advice for a case with RGB and clear side panels, any advice?

This feels like a troll but nonetheless,

Any addressable RGB strips/fans will do and as for a case, the PC-O11 DW is all glass in the front and on the side.

I'm not the best to ask about Intel motherboards so I'll leave that to someone else to talk about. Going with an RTX 2080 seems like the best choicce right now since it has support for RTX and is about half the price of the RTX 2080ti so seems like not a terrible choice if you really want RTX. If you're not bothered about it then you could look at a used 1080ti.

As far as the case goes I'm not sure. You can't go wrong with a Fractal Design Meshify C with some RGB Fans.

This should also be in New Builds and Planning, not General Discussion.

Thank you inversion, I want to go RTX because I need this to be useful in at least 3 more years, and they are saying that some new games can only be played by these cards

Why would you think he's a troll? He's literally just asking for advice. That's what forums are for.

Where are you getting that info?

6 year old gpus play modern games just fine (r9 290x), so i see no reason for gtx 1000 series to have problems.

I only see your reply if you @ me.

There are features of games (being the RTX features) that can only be used by RTX cards, however the list of games that have RTX features is very small.
There aren't games that will only run on RTX cards however.

It remains to be seen if real-time raytracing becomes a widely adopted feature, or if it becomes PhysX 2.0

Also, you'll want a beefy CPU cooler to go with the 9900K. Going with the stock Intel cooler is a fire waiting to happen. Dark Rock Pro 4 or Noctua NH-D15 are good.

You also want a beefy PSU; 750W or more. I recommend the RM750x, RM1000x, RM750i, RM1000i, HX750i, HX1000i, AX760, AX860i, AX1200i, AX1600i, EVGA G2/P2/T2 1000W and above. 1000W+ is recommended however if you want to go multi-GPU in the future. Corsair's RMx/RMi PSUs are behind HXi PSUs which are behind AX and AXi PSUs.

Thank you NunoLava1998, I'm not a fan of multi GPUs, for gaming, I don't see its logic other than high benchmark scores. No, I just put the more expensive parts here because I don't want to waste my money on something that could be better for the same amount, that is why I'm asking here.

2400 is fine for most gaming PC that are Intel based, AMD needs as high as you can go.

What monitor resolution is this driving? What refresh rate?

If you cannot afford this now then wait, newer parts will come out in time and you may want those instead.

If you want to buy now then what is your budget?

Graphics cards are usually replaced very 2-3 years so only plan to keep them that long unless your on a budget. Resell values usually cover about half the cost of a new card if replaced at that frequency.

Im not too interested in the monitor, I know that higher resolution stres more the cpu but I think that the i9 9900k is more than capable to handle anything, but just a regular 4k monitor is fine for me. Im more concerned with the case because the MSI Z390 godlike is extended atx and the cases that people here are recomending are mid tower

It’s actually the other way around, higher res is less CPU dependant.
