Strange CPU For Sale on Ebay. Scam?

This may be a worth while video for at @LinusTech. After he got burned on those Xeons I found another too-good-to-be-true deal on some strange 6950x-ish thing.

I mean it looks legit, but...... it is eBay, and really anything else goes. 

They have a good rating tho, so.

Just strange. I was searching for a 6950X to build a system that I can host a Plex Server on in VM (And allocate 4 cores to) and be able to use daily. Theres a lot of different revisions of them on Ebay from the same seller with different clock speeds and core counts

That's not a 6950x. Not even close. That's a quad core xeon with no hyperthreading at 2Ghz.

New ebay sellers use this to get traffic coming their way. The i7-6950x is just in there as a keyword to screw with your searches and get your clicks.

96% rating with 421 sales, I'd call it sketchy so far... 

Honestly I won't usually buy from any large Ebay sellers unless they're 98% or better. Especially if it's shipping from Japan, China, Korea, Hong Kong or any nearby country. So many fakes from there.

THAT one is actually compatible to a 6950x in terms of raw compute, little bit slower per core though. 

Just check motherboard compatibility before dropping it in. iirc that won't work in every 2011-3 socket board. (Thanks intel)

Yes, but I would still personally buy one with an ebay backed return policy. That way if they do try to screw you over, you can file a complaint with ebay, show that what they sent you isn't what was advertised, and they have to refund you.

The plastic holder can be removed. Those are used on HP servers iirc.

Alright, I see the problem.  You want to go to ebay.com and not ebay.scam.  Easy mistake to make.
