Looks great to me! Since you're under budget, you could get a 2600X and a little better of a motherboard, like an MSI b450 tomahawk. The tomahawk is a really good board and the 2600X has higher clock speeds out of the box then the 2600.

One thing I would suggest is to go for 3000 mhz RAM at least. Ryzen is a weird architecture in that it loves faster memory up until about 3200 mhz. There are some videos on youtube that show real ingame benchmarks comparing a Ryzen system on different ram speeds with differences up to 4-20 FPS in some instances. Its a small change that it shouldn't drive up the price more than 20-30£

I completely passed over it, but @ThePD is right, get 3000mhz RAM at the least. Ryzen likes fast RAM and you have the budget headroom for it.

Dual Channel is there, but he's recommending a more expensive build, obviously it's better..

i think the build @joshuasc2001 chose is pretty perfect if he changes the memory to 3000Mhz or 3200Mhz, maybe switch to 2600X as well if he deson't wanna deal with overclocking.

I just saw your edit. If you want to overclock, a great air cooler is the dark rock pro 4 or nh-d15. They're both kinda bulky and probably overkill for a 2600/X so a cryorig h7 or h5 ultimate would be ok for some overclocking.

But it puts OP over budget. They'd be better off settling for a new RX 590 or a used 1070. The RTX 2060 is just a bit too much for them unless they want to seriously compromise on their build and get a Ryzen 3 2200g over a Ryzen 5 CPU.

he's probably thinking to himself "i should stick with my PS4", you guys are complicating everything, i don't see anything wrong with his build, just keep it simple.

How are x470s a waste lol?

the tomahawk B450 is way more than enough unless the OP is HEAVY OC'ing and finds the need for the x470 features.

on that note, still love ya charmin XD

X470 isn't a waste, it gives him an upgrade route where b450 does not. B450 is notorious for having shitty VRM's making it not the best choice for over clocking or higher TDP chips like Ryzen 7. B350 doesn't support the latest Ryzen CPU's without a bios flash. Also, the RX 590 isn't a waste as it has better performance than the GTX 1060 by a fair margin and is closer to competing with the 1070. It's much better than a 580 and fits his budget unlike an RTX 2060 which is, at this juncture, a total waste with the limited support. Most consumers will be waiting for the GTX 1660 or 1160 whatever the hell they're calling it now.

But it puts OP over budget. They'd be better off settling for a new RX 590 or a used 1070. The RTX 2060 is just a bit too much for them unless they want to seriously compromise on their build and get a Ryzen 3 2200g over a Ryzen 5 CPU.

how did it put op over? look at the first build i posted... without the extra 2tb drive, it was under 900.

Just btw, you probably don't want to use the g3. That's the only thing I'd change about your list. The g2 is way better.

Yeah, you're probably right. The g2 is tried and true.

Then they're stuck with only 500 gigs of storage and a crappy semi modular power supply? OP can't even make use of an RTX 2060 and wouldn't be able to make use of Ray Tracing in a meaningful way

Eh, the x470s usually have more features than just better vrms, and they are only slightly more expensive
