Posted January 11, 2019 i havent, i dont own it. 10/10 thread I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays... nothing, it just sits there collecting dust... Builds: The Toaster Project! Northern Bee! The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0) Spoiler "Here is some advice that might have gotten lost somewhere along the way in your life. #1. Treat others as you would like to be treated. #2. It's best to keep your mouth shut; and appear to be stupid, rather than open it and remove all doubt. #3. There is nothing "wrong" with being wrong. Learning from a mistake can be more valuable than not making one in the first place. Follow these simple rules in life, and I promise you, things magically get easier. Posted January 12, 2019 My i7 8700K is a silicon loser, non-delid, with NH-D15 cooler, can be manually set at, 3.7GHz / 1.04v (It's the lowest voltage I can set at Intel's rated base clock speed, stable. Any lower than 1.04v for 3.7GHz is unstable) 4.7GHz / 1.17v 4.8GHz / 1.25v 4.9GHz / 1.31v Cant get 5GHz at any volts I've tried between 1.31-1.37v with AVX = 0, and I gave up to get 5GHz.. OP don't take this as your settings, yours might get better lower voltages or even worse higher than mine, it's purely depends on silicon lottery on every chips.. Because I've seen an i7 8700K can also run at 5GHz with only 1.27v which is great, mine is the absolute opposite, can't get 5GHz.. I will delid this chip once the Der8auer DDM2 arrived, to either see if it can improve the chip to get higher clock speed and get lower temps generally, because my place is freaking hot, currently the climate makes the ambient temps around 30C! Posted January 12, 2019 Author I have watched many videos and read many articles and have understood that i7 7800k can hit 5 ghz at 1.325 volts (non delided). Can i use the corsair h80i v2 for cooling. Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/1020015-overclocking-i7-8700k/#findComment-12183377 Share on other sites
 I read a review of exact same motherboard and CPU combo as mine, MSI Z370i Gaming Pro Carbon AC with i7 8700K, which can achieve 5GHz with only 1.275v. Comparing my motherboard+CPU to this review, made me wanted to ditched my i7 8700K and get i7 8086K instead. I followed what the review did to get these results, but no success, my i7 chip is absolute silicon loser.. https://www.anandtech.com/show/12763/msi-z370i-gaming-pro-carbon-ac-review/9 My system specs: Spoiler CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K, 5GHz Delidded LM || CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-C14S w/ NF-A15 & NF-A14 Chromax fans in push-pull cofiguration || Motherboard: MSI Z370i Gaming Pro Carbon AC || RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2x8Gb 2666 || GPU: EVGA GTX 1060 6Gb FTW2+ DT || Storage: Samsung 860 Evo M.2 SATA SSD 250Gb, 2x 2.5" HDDs 1Tb & 500Gb || ODD: 9mm Slim DVD RW || PSU: Corsair SF600 80+ Platinum || Case: Cougar QBX + 1x Noctua NF-R8 front intake + 2x Noctua NF-F12 iPPC top exhaust + Cougar stock 92mm DC fan rear exhaust || Monitor: ASUS VG248QE || Keyboard: Ducky One 2 Mini Cherry MX Red || Mouse: Logitech G703 || Audio: Corsair HS70 Wireless || Other: XBox One S Controler My build logs: Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/1020015-overclocking-i7-8700k/#findComment-12183448 Share on other sites
 Posted January 12, 2019 Well my i7 8700 locked is at 4.45ghz 1.28v, probably could push it further if Intel wasn't lame and locked BLCK.
