What are you going to use it for?

My Build, v2.1 --- CPU: i7-8700K @ 5.2GHz/1.288v || MoBo: Asus ROG STRIX Z390-E Gaming || RAM: 4x4GB G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 2666 14-14-14-33 || Cooler: Custom Loop || GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 Ti SC Black, on water || PSU: EVGA G2 850W || Case: Corsair 450D || SSD: 850 Evo 250GB, Intel 660p 2TB || Storage: WD Blue 2TB || G502 & Glorious PCGR Fully Custom 80% Keyboard || MX34VQ, PG278Q, PB278Q

Audio --- Headphones: Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 6XX || Amp: Schiit Audio Magni 3 || DAC: Schiit Audio Modi 3 || Mic: Blue Yeti

mainly gaming and we browsing the games i play are bf5, fortnite, csgo, and blavk ops 4

If you’re playing 1440p or higher then you’ll be fine

Then a 2080 is pretty much a waste of money. Even a 2070 is a bit overkill. A GTX 1070 is plenty for 1080p 144Hz. If you really want to spend more money, a 1070 Ti would be fine as well.

the monitor im getting is 200hz so thats why i went with a higher end gpu

Any i5 would heavily bottleneck the 2080 so you wouldn't get 200fps.

 

To avoid bottlenecking I'd recommend an 8700K or an 9700K.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

what about a rtx 2070 ad i dont plan on playing games super high detail i prefer performance over looks

Honestly I would say anything above a 1070 will be bottlenecked by an i5 at 1080p. If you were to play at 4K that would be a totally different story.

 

CPU bottlenecking is when a CPU simply can't process enough frames and give them to the GPU to render every second. 

 

So in this context, an i5-8400 simply wouldn't be able to process and deliver enough frames to the GPU to render them which is why you wouldn't get that much higher FPS.

i've got myself an i5 8400 paired with an 1070ti and on battlefield V and I it goes to 100%, so you'll be better off with an i7.

i7 10700k @ 5.05 Ghz

Corsair H100i pro XT 240mm

MSI z490 tomahawk

16 Gb (2 x 8 GB) Patriot Viper Steel - 4000mhz - 16-16-16-34

MSI 1070TI titanium
