A lot of LTT's videos  (uploading daily is an amazing feat, btw.) are very heavily PC based. While having most videos be PC oriented isn't terrible, it leaves much to be desired. For example, remember how LTT owns an Ultimaker 2+ Extended? No, I don't either. Remember when they raced Dromida Vista drones around? I don't either. I love and appreciate every video that LTT puts out because the production is hard and the product is very high quality, but I think for a technology channel they should broaden the scope of what they cover.

I think having someone else hosting videos about a certain topic or two would be a good way to help cushion the impact in case something happens to the main star, Linus.

Thoughts?

Odd I hear this, when so recently I've heard a few complaints that the channel isn't PC focused enough. People complaining about the lack of motherboard reviews and guides.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

I find that they're covering more laptops and the sort and crazy bits of tech.

LTT should be focusing on PC hardware. If they want to expand they can create another channel.

Ryzen 5700g @ 4.4ghz all cores | Asrock B550M Steel Legend | 3060 | 2x 16gb Micron E 2666 @ 4200mhz cl16 | 500gb WD SN750 | 12 TB HDD | Deepcool Gammax 400 w/ 2 delta 4000rpm push pull | Antec Neo Eco Zen 500w

A TON of our recent videos were non-PC related. Ligo tour? KBM on Xbox? Tech declutter? Wiring up LAN center?

Maybe take a look at the channel and tally them up and see if you feel the same way ?

The description of their channel hails this "We make entertaining videos about technology, including tech reviews, showcases and other content."

I think they could add videos about such content to playlists without disrupting the content consumption of most viewers.

There isn't nearly enough of a market for drones for them to try to diversify into that.

I don't really watch LTT anymore, but a channel does what a channel does for a reason.

Check out my guide on how to scan cover art here!

It's true, maybe I'd just like to see more 3d printing and the likes.

I'm a big fan of that stuff and channels with as high quality as yours is hard to come by.

Maybe OP is just preempting all the coverage that will surround Ryzen 3000 stuff

You don't remember their Ultimaker 2 being mentioned often? That's cause they've upgraded to the ultimaker 3.

Here are a couple non-PC things they've done in the past couple months:

Spoiler
  • LIGO tour
  • Clear TV
  • Bubble Bass (?)
  • Drones
  • Smarthome stuff in general
    • Smart lighting
    • Alexa / Google stuffs
  •  Tons of phones
  • Tons of speakers
  • Those weird segway things
  • Projector on car
  • That weird hiking thing that they should release the raw footage of ('cause I'm sure somebody tripped) but probably won't
  • Lucky
  • etc.

Fan Comparisons          F@H          PCPartPicker         Analysis of Market Trends (Coming soon? Never? Who knows!)

Designing a mITX case. Working on aluminum prototypes.

Open for intern / part-time. Good at maths, CAD and airflow stuff. Dabbled with Python.

Please fill out this form! It helps a ton! https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/841400-the-poll-to-end-all-polls-poll/

Hyped for Ryzen 3000 and happy about what AMD's doing to the market, even if I can't buy it. ?

Car projector was a cool one. I've seen most of those (haven't seen bubble bass?)

Sorry - not bubble bass - just big mouthed billy bass.

wow... 3d printing is waaay off the pc spectrum, it needs another skillset, just because it is operated by pc, doesn't mean they have to cover it.

I'm pretty sure theres a dedicated channel for that matter.

There are still many things to cover in the "pc spectrum", where LTT does best.

Here comes the problem. They can't do everything. I personally couldn't care less about laptops and phones, and most of the time I don't watch those videos. But I wouldn't really get into 3D printing, drones and other more extreme end of tech. The best LTT videos are where they experiment and do things more vlog style. It reminds me most of the time when I started watching. If I want something different, I go to other channels. Actual tech reviews and news? Level1 and Jayz2Cents. More hobby-style tech? Tested.com. I've thought about Gamers Nexus too since they do case reviews, but there's too much for me to watch already.

  • 2 weeks later...

I don't know.  A Youtube channel has to have a certain... "identity" in order to build an audience.  This is why LMG has different channels for different focuses.  If they went TOO far from PC related tech for too long they would loose some of their audience.

That said, it would be nice if they showed more applications of some of this high powered PC technology.  I mean like ... so you have your 128 core CPU dual Nvidia 4080 Ti 10 gigaquad of storage PC from the 24th century.... show us what these computers can do.

Such is why the videos about X gamers/editors on 1 CPU  etc are so impressive.  They are not just component porn they have brains too.
