2080 or 1080ti

I am just recently getting into pc gaming and have saved up some money.  I was wondering if I should get a ASUS ROG Strix 2080 or a ASUS ROG strix 1080ti.  In my build I will have a Core i9 9900k, a ASUS z390,  and trident z g skill 16gb.

They have similar performance. The only real difference between the cards is that the 1080 Ti has more VRAM than the 2080.

if you are ever going for a hdr monitor get the 2080, otherwise, whichever's cheaper, and asus z390 is bad, get gigabyte z390.

i have a 2080 at 2040 mhz and 16ghz on the mem and its beating most of the benches out there by 10 percent of a 1080ti oced so my vote is 2080

Both have very similar performance, get the 2080 if the prices are about the same.

Which defenetly makes your 2080 10% faster than 1080ti OC...makes sense..my bad

Weird numbers in that chart.  My 2080ti runs almost 2000 points higher....

Of course..yours is a much better card than founders edition...and its overclocked a fair bit I'm sure...still fairly weak for a 1300$ card if you ask me ^^ this is 700$ CAD...or 540$usd

True, but those numbers still seem low to me...my card is not 15% overclocked.  I will run it at stock speeds when I get back in town in a couple days.  Nice score with your 1080ti...I don't think I saved any of my 4k results from mine.  I could only find the 1080p extreme scores from my 1080ti.

That chart had a 2080 and 1080Ti, no 2080Ti.

If you have the money get an RTX 2080. It will be supported longer and likely will retain its value longer. Get a used 1080 Ti if you want to save some money. 

 

If your build is solely for gaming why get a i9 9900k? Its not really any better than the 9700k. Honestly, if you are going to game at 4k get a Ryzen 2600 and an RTX 2080 Ti. 

 

If you are gonna game at 1440p 144hz get a 9600k and a RTX 2080 Ti. Watch EVGA's site for the $999 version.

Your CPU is a LOT newer and faster than the 4770k used for those benchmarks though, that could be part of it along with your card being better than a stock FE.

 

also, holy shit that GPU has some low temps. Is it watercooled?
