Hey! I'm planning on building a SFF PC soon and my biggest struggle so far is finding the right PSU.

I'm looking for a TFX or Flex-ATX and from my research, it's impossible to find some over 350w and 300w respectively (that isn't from some sketchy brand on ebay or outside the EU).

MSI's PSU calculator says I'll be good with 300w, meanwhile outervision's recommends a li'l above 400w.

Since I don't plan on adding another GPU or anything (since it's a small build), do you think I'll be good with 300w? Or should I go with a safer option, 350w TFX? Or is it all too weak and I'd need to save up some more to get a fancy custom built one (Which will never happen because I'm cheap af)?

The specs are:

Ryzen 5 2600

GTX 1070

One M.2

One HDD 7.2k rpm

M-ITX board

2 sticks of DDR4 16G (2 since I may upgrade this in the future)

And a few USB dongs because I have a bunch of things to connect

Thanks in advance!

What case are you using that doesnt use an SFX psu? Those are way more common than TFX or FLEX ATX from my understanding.

That is a problem...

Because there ain't no good TFX or flex ATX PSU.

You should go with SFX or ATX. That are the only ones where you can get some decent stuff. TFX? Not so much.

Because TFX is only (/mostly) used in Half Height µATX Cases and stuff like that.

Neither.

Get a different case and go with an SFX PSU....

Because you can get up to 800W and some pretty nice options as well.

TFX is just the "Office Class", you don't even find one PSU with a PCIe connector for obvious reasons.

All the good shit is only available in SFX and ATX.

Oh right, I kinda forgot to mention that I'm building the case myself, so it's not that I've not found a case with a compatible PSU. I suppose I could go with a SFX, although it wouldn't really reach the goals I've set for myself.

I've seen that both Silverstone and beQuiet have made TFX PSU's. Seasonic have made a Flex-ATX @ 350W.

Again, I'm building the case myself, and I feel like I'm up for a couple trade-offs in exchange for the 'compact-ness'.

My main question is in regards to if the 350w would be enough, since I'm not too interested in overclocking.

Then there is no reason to not go with SFX or, if possible ATX.

You can for example place the PSU right next to the DIMM Sockets or maybe even above that.

Yes, but they are not good.
Silverstone and be quiet might even be the same (FSP made) unit, not sure.

You don't do yourself any favor by reducing it to TFX or FlexATX and not going for a full size ATX if possible or, if you have to, SFX...

The ATX PSU are just soo much better. SFX are closer to ATX but due to limited size, they can't be as good (right now at least)...

Then there is no reason to NOT go with at least SFX or ATX at all as everything else is not designed for what you want...

Or rather loud.

Or both.

Wattage isn't the Problem, build quality and voltage regulation/quality is. And there the TFX units lack.

Especially since they DO NOT come with a 6pin PCIe Connector!

As there is no GPU that has a 6pin Connector in half height today.
