enjoy, half fun with the build ?

Hi,

I am looking for high end motherboard to go with i9 9900k and 2080ti card, also 32gb of ddr4 ram.
Should I just go with Asus Maximus XI hero or look for something else?

Some ram recomendations would  also be nice  :) , I am completely green when it comes to Ram. G.Skill maybe ?

I need to complete that build ASAP ,so your suggestions will be highly appreciated :D

Ps. By Ram recomendations I mean fastest 32gb or 64 that I can get for 900$  or less  :) (but preferably less :D )

maximus xi hero is terrible.

its a 4 phase.

Get the gigabyte Aorus Ultra, Master or Extreme. (Recommended is Master for heavy OC (5.5ghz+), Ultra is also fine).

AS for Ram, I personally like Corsair Vengeance (Cheapest), Vengeance Pro RGB (for you RGB fans), and Corsair Dominatior Platinum (Expensive, but looks great and is a really good ram OC)

Alright so I will get the  Aorus , but is it the ultimate choice , or is there anything better MSI maybe ? :)

Memory  on the other hand , could you pls be more specific about "speed" and is Corsair the best choice , I mean my budget is flexible and I want the best performance possible in games. Anything else comes to your mind ? :D

That video that Firewrath9 linked shows that the Gigabyte Z390 boards are the best. People don't bench the MSi z390 godlike because its something a lot of consumers don't get because it's $600 USD and I'm not even sure if its being sold anymore.

As for the corsair ram, Firewrath9 didn't really mention "speed", but he mentioned overclocking. He (she?) quite literally means that the RAM (corsair dominator platinum) overclocks to higher speeds better than other RAM can.

for z390, all the vrm on the boards other than gigabyte are bad at the same price point, especially want to avoid the asus and msi boards (i've heard very bad things about the hero and the ace), the only reason i got the asrock board was for the 10G lan, it's fun times with a 70C vrm in the winter, i'm gonna have to figure something out during the summer months or run it at 4.9.

Just go with g skill ram for z390, it's better than corsair unless you have a specific look you are going for.

mine is running just fine at 5.3gHz with the Asus Maximus XI Code. I get from a 'max possible OC' technical standpoint that the non-extreme Asus boards are given hate, but I'm very happy with it. It is adequate, and didn't cost an arm and a leg.

As for RAM, in both my main rigs I'm using the same G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3200mHz CL14 DIMMs. They are Samsung B die so you can easily OC them higher but I've found that 3200mHz is about the sweet spot in terms of performance to speed, which also affects price.

HEDT: i9 10980XE @ 4.9 gHz, 64GB @ 3600mHz CL14 G.Skill Trident-Z DDR4, 2x Nvidia Titan RTX NVLink SLI, Corsair AX1600i, Samsung 960 Pro 2TB OS/apps, Samsung 850 EVO 4TB media, LG 38GL950G-B monitor, Drop CTRL keyboard, Decus Respec mouse

Laptop: Razer Blade Pro 2019 9750H model, 32GB @ 3200mHz CL18 G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4, 2x Samsung 960 Pro 1TB RAID0, repasted with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut

G.Skill is better when in comes to performance or looks ? Cause I definitely prefer metalic look of the corsair.

I am not planning to overclock anything ,but Corsair just looks better with Aorus mobo imo.

And when it comes speed, well since I'm in hurry and the highest speed available on stock around here is 3866MHz I will go for it.

performance is better on gskill, maybe you can tune the timing on corsair and oc it to be about the same, but expect extensive bios tweaks, the only reason to get corsair is for looks. Gskill also has better warranties, they just ship you new sticks after receiving the old ones, no questions asked.

But is it like 0.5% better or is it a noticeable difference cause it would really change my plans about look of this build :D

And to be specific I ordered 4x8Gb 3866MHz and I can still cancel it, should I do it then ?

you guessed it, 1-2% better LOL, as with most ram, as long as it is 2666+ and is not hot garbage, you are fine, go for the looks (corsair).

(i actually managed to squeeze my average fps from 85 to 89 from cl14 3200 to cl16 4000, but that's on 4k in shadow of war/farcry 5, can't tell if not for the fps counter)

Personally the Asus XI Code works pretty well. Plus it looks nice compared to some of the other motherboards out there. The motherboard also stays pretty cool.
