GPU Price to Performance Chart (December 2018)

The ratings will change as prices fluctuate; this is a short-term list.  Use case is important; a GPU can be a great price-to-performance but could still be inadequate or overkill for the users needs.  But I think this can be a helpful resource for consumers and first-time PC builders to put the GPU's in perspective.

PC Build: R5-1600.  Scythe Mugen 5.  GTX 1060.  120 GB SSD.  1 TB HDD.  FDD Mini C.  8 GB RAM (3000 MHz).  Be Quiet Pure Wings 2.  Capstone-550.  Deepcool 350 RGB.

Peripherals: Qisan Magicforce (80%) w/ Gateron Blues.  Razer Naga Chroma.  Lenovo 24" 1440p IPS.  PS4 Controller.

GTX 1050 Ti seems to have a street price of $170 USD, not $140 USD.

 

This makes it much worse than depicted on that chart.  Worse than RX Vega.

it fluctuates a lot.  sometimes 1050 ti's are cheap.  sometimes they're ridiculously expensive and may as well get a 1060

Where's the legendary GTX 970? It performs similarly to a GTX 1060 3GB (a $180 card) but it costs only $100 USD.

You need a second chart to show the actual performance figures.  Performance per dollar isn't too helpful if you need a minimum amount of performance to reach X resolution at Y framerate.

I thought Passmark test is very basic? Doesn't really reflect what newer card is capable off.

also a bad time to do it since the holidays just passed, with the 2 game promo the rx 570 easily beats the 1060
