Posted December 8, 2018 Hey gals and guys. I'm planning on buying a new monitor this month if I can find a good deal on Boxing Day (Canada's Black Friday but with less injuries). My current set-up has a Ryzen 7 2700 and a Gigabyte Windforce RTX 2070. I plan on mostly playing action-RPGs (AC Odyssey, upcoming games like Anthem and CP 2077), some less demanding games, as well as a bit of Overwatch. I also do some amateur photo editing so good colours are important to me. I'm pretty set on getting a 27"+ IPS 1440p monitor but I'm not sure which one. I am open to other panel types though, maybe even an ultra-wide. I'm currently using a BenQ GW2470 which is okay but can be a bit blotchy in the blacks. For someone like myself, who plays mostly action-RPG games and Overwatch non-competitively, is it worth it to splurge on a high refresh rate and/or G-Sync monitor? I've looked at monitors like the AOC AG271QG but I'm not sure I can convince myself to spend C$850 on a monitor. I've even considered a 4K monitor for photo editing but I don't think I'd be able to play many games with decent settings. I've never had the chance to try out a high refresh rate or G-sync monitor so I really don't know what to expect from them.
