I appreciate your feedback. I think you are right and the 4K display would be a waste of money. As for 16gb of RAM, I don’t need it for my daily tasks, but it would be nice just to have for the occasion of me having a video to edit or running programs for school.

I have a friend with the HP Spectre with the 1080p display and my XPS13 has a 4k display it is nearly impossible to tell with such a small screen, I would recommend 16GB of RAM though. Most new ultrabooks are not upgradeable for RAM so if you find 8GB is not enough you can't ad another 8GB. That being said for $1,500 you might not be able to get a 16GB XPS13. On Dell’s website I am able to get a XPS 13 with the i7 and 16GB of RAM for just under $1300 with the 1080p display. That’s the route I am leaning towards currently. I appreciate your input! How do you like your XPS and how long have you had it for?

Oh, awesome! Which i7 processor? The new 8th gen i7's are way better.

 

I have the last gen 2017 XPS13, I've had it for about 16 months now and I love it, amazing battery life even with the 4k touchscreen. I get 6-8 hours of battery life easily even with a decently heavy workload.

The performance gain on the 8th gen i7 is huge, it sips on power at idle and is a beast at multi-core workloads, you will be very happy with it! Grab yourself a dbrand skin it makes it look even better, plus protects it from scratches. I have the black carbon fiber with the blue carbon fiber dell logo and it looks bomb!

Don't get 8th gen i7 ULV unless there's no choice, no significant performance gain mainly due to thermal limitation
