You might be able to get a fury card for around 140 iirc

I recently stumbled upon an AOC G2460PF a week ago on ebay for 85 pounds with a 15 percent discount. I now want to make proper use of this monitor as currently my r9 270x is not making the cut in most games. I want to play rainbow six siege, csgo, gta 5, battlefield 3 + 4 and overwatch with at least over 100 fps with high/ultra settings. My cpu is an i5 2500k @ 4.3ghz. What would you guys recommend i buy bearing in mind i am in the UK. Also i do not mind used/refurbished graphics cards and i would prefer amd for the freesync but this is not a must. Thanks!

Your cpu is also lacking for 144Hz, you're gonna need a serious upgrade. Check out the recent video by GamersNexus, reviewing the i7 2600k performance in 2018. It doesn't exactly push 144fps

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

You'll be fine for CS:GO with that CPU, but the rest not so much.

And you're gonna be wanting a 1070/1080 for 100+fps at high/ultra settings.

not sure if you can get EVGA B-stock 980ti or 1070, but that's somewhere to look. Otherwise the new graphics card should be between the 1070ti or Vega 56

The CPU needs upgrade as well, and I mean a new platform. Even Ryzen 5 2600 bundle + 16GB memory will cost 400 quid, roughly.

R9 290x should be achievable at around 120£. Ive seen some R9 Fury cards at a similar pricepoint. Keep in mind you need a high quality CPU to run them.

Otherwise look at newer cards like rx 580 or gtx 1070/vega56.

Your CPU is a the main issue for 144hz

Could upgrade to *Ryzen 3000 sometime next year on the cheap though

get an RX 570/580 in the meantime, may come with 2 free games atm at retail. Just avoid the armor cards

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Yeah i was looking at a few r9 series cards. Would you say an r9 390 for 100 would be a good deal or an r9 fury (non x) for 165?

Dont bother if it is not an r9 390x or 290x as they are different cards from eachother. The non-x are somewhat slower than their X counterparts.

You might be able to get a fury card for around 140 iirc

You can get retail RX 570s for 150 GBP right now, will run cooler, and comes with 2 free games, likely resident evil 2 remake, and dmc5

Otherwise I'd maybe wait if you can going by recent leaks assuming they're even remotely accurate.

The r9 fury might be worth it considering they can be flashed to fury x cards. The 390 isn't a bad deal either, but I would suggest a used 1070 for around the $250 since it uses less power and performs better than both cards.

8086k Winner BABY!!

I'd leave out that GTX 1070 since, well, it's an nVidia card theerefore no Frreesync. I'd suggeest OP grit his teeth and bear with the 270X for now and save up. With that monitor and Freesync, I'd suggest an RX 580 card at the very least....preferable a VEGA to get the most out of that monitor. I have a Samsung Freesync 2 3840x1080 monitor (HDR, 144Hz), I have two VEGA 64 in CF mode running it, all I can say is, I'm happy that I've gone back to AMD.
