I'm curious what everyones favorite CPU generation is and why. Then what their favorite CPU sku is from that respective generation is

AMD FX Series, particulary FX8350. I had it in my gaming PC for almost 5 years at 5Ghz overclock running games every day, beast of a CPU it was.

Ryzen ofcourse. Its cheaper, cooler and can level the game with intel after like 15 years of darkness.

Best AMD innovation since x64.

Coffee Lake probably, we had great gains with Haswell and Skylake node shrinks but we were still very stagnated on the quad-cores 4ever Intel kept doing since Intel Core 2Quad line up.

 

And AMD Ryzen is hands down the most meaningful thing AMD ever did.

PowerPC MPC7457

 

Got a G4 donated to me long ago and got a 3rd party dual CPU upgrade, this dual MPC7457 was a beast compared to my overclocked Northwood P4! (that was back in 2003 or 2004)

3770k, mainly because it was the best gaming I’ve had of my life. Didn’t know much about PCs at the time even after building several. 

 

Just glad it held up the cards I used and the game I played. Couldn’t really ask for much more at the time.

Love the responses so far. Personally my favorite was 6th gen skylake from intel. DDR4 became mainstream, new 14nm chips, NVMe and M.2 started to become popular, the skus made a lot of sense in terms of naming and the specs, 4Ghz was super easy to achieve, good times man. The i5-6600K is by far my favorite cpu from that lineup
