Finally solved this an just in case anyone else has this problem and happens to stumble upon the thread here's the solution:

Go into the Nvidia GeForce Experience and "optimize" your games there. It'll set the res to 3840x2160. Once you go into the game you can then change and adjust the settings as you like and it'll be fine again.

Hello,

i usually game in a resolution of 3840x2160. However I've noticed that lately every game has changed the resolution to 1920x1080. In the game settings I can't select any resolution above that anymore either.

However in the Nvidia ControlCenter/System settings it says my display is running at 3840x2160. Windows itself says the same thing too.

What I've tried so far and hasn't solved it:

-To run the games in Fullscreen, Windowed and Borderless.

- Restarting hasn't helped either.

- Disconnecting every other Display and TV from my GPU hasn't solved it either.

- I know the cables are still good cause in Windows and every other Program it works just fine.

- Switching the cables between the displays and the outputs

- I've updated my drivers. (Gpu and Display drivers)

Anybody have an idea what I could do to fix this?

How are you playing in 4K on non-4K monitors? Did you enable some custom resolution in the Nvidia control panel?

Your monitors are a 1920x1200 resolution which uses aspect ratio of 16:10.

I am assuming that youre using NVIDIA DSR to run 3840x2160 for desktop and games.

The reason that you may not be able to use anything but 1920x1080 in games is that because you are setting the aspect ratio in games to 16:9 which is 1920x1080 and not 1920x1200.

Try to force the games to run 16:10 and then you should be able to run them at 3840x2160.

Disregarding my mistake with the monitor names. If my math is correct then 3840x2160 is a 16:9 aspect ratio. 3840x2400 would be 16:10. So that doesnt change a thing
