100FPS in CS with RTX2070 & Ryzen 5 1600..

kriptcs

Hey guys, So I have recently upgraded my gpu (GTX 1050 -> RTX 2070) and the in game perfomance hasn't changed at all..

I ran RivaTuner to look for any bottlenecks but I couldn't find any.

The cpu usage in game is 20% and the gpu usage in game is about the same and the temps stay really low, we're talking 40C-60C.

I have a clean windows, with only steam, vibrance gui, and nvidia drivers running while playing.

I was using the lowest settings possible at 1280x1024 playing FFA (about 20 people on the server), and I was getting about 100-150 FPS..

What can it be that cuts away from perfomance?

You have changed your GPU Architecture, it is highly advisable that you DDU in safe mode to reinstall the drivers fresh new.

Also considering your CPU is just a Ryzen 5 1600, reducing your graphical settings and resolution will get to a point it'll produce no difference what so ever as you're completely CPU bound and your GPU is already not doing any thing.

it's normal for the cpu usage to be like that, the game couldn't care less how many cores you've got, but pretty sure the gpu should give you more fps

Well..do you try to say that if I turn my res up I will get more fps? Eitherway, I am a competitve player, and I have been playing on this res for about 2 years now., chaning my res would mess up my muscle memory, which I do not really want. Is there any other option?

CS:GO basically only cares about single core performance, and AFAIK it only uses like 3 cores max with multicore rendering enabled (check that you have it enabled though, makes a BIG difference).

When it comes to Ryzen, I'd recommend overclocking your 1600 and after that looking into a program called ProcessLasso. This user on reddit was able to get higher fps when he played with the setting in there, but I don't know anything about it.

90% usage on only one core in main menu with Multicore Rendering Enabled

70-90% usage on that very core and none other in the most stressful environment in cs

80-90% when Multicore Rendering is disabled ( perfomance did drop to 60-80 fps)

^^^^ Main menu, look at CPU1 in comparison with all the other 11.

While I doubt it would help much, you could go to Task Manager -> Details tab and set the processor affinity for CS:GO to CPU0-5 or CPU6-11. Assuming those are the logical processors on each CCX, this will force the game to run on a single CCX. Cores sharing data between CCX's is more painful than within the same CCX.

Core distributing rose when I set the affinity to 6-11, with a perfomance which is on average now 180 (eyballed average, but still), so it did help quite a lot

I'm glad you got some more performance thanks to affinity. I'd continue to play around with settings like that and squeeze as much performance out of it as possible.

Maybe God is punishing you for playing CS .. lol jk jk man,, .. Here is the thing you hvae a 2070 RTX which can make todays games @ your resolution run at 200fps and drop to 150 once in a while.  Depends on games of course.  As far as CS,  That GPU is pissed because even a 760 can play at 150fps.  So ya with a 2070 in CS you should be 300fps at all times with zero performance drops even with 32 players.  Your CPU is holding you back, PERIOD.

CS is pretty damn terrible at holding higher frame rates on Ryzen (and this is a trend on all Valve Source games, ESPECIALLY Team Fortress 2) because it's not really suited to make use of more than four cores.

That and the recent update could've cocked some optimization up as usual.

However I keep asking myself, why do you have a 2070 playing a 20 year old game.  It doesn't make sense.  Man those graphics are horrible,,,  but of botched textures and flat walls..... lol,, either you get a Intel and play CS or stop playing CS and start playing  Quake Champions and Unreal Tournament Alpha, and ,,,,,,,,, the stupid gay war game titles.
