What graphic card should I buy for my new build. Is mantle worth it compared to nvidias features. And is free synk only for laptops?

Free synk will be avilable across all compatable computers and mantle will be worth it in the end. It's more of personal preference so go with AMD if those are compelling deals.

Mantle is only worth it if you want to play bf4.

Go with Nvidia. Mantle is not worth it and Freesync will not work until a long time from now on.

Free sync from what I have heard will be on the desktop platform too. And it's preference I went with nvidia this generation because they had the better card. But I would say its what ever features you find most appealing, I liked g-sync over mantle I found I would rather no tearing and other features better then mantle.

Like bmxtricky5 mentioned, it really comes down to personal preferences. I'm currently building a new rig and it looks I'll  go with AMD again. If G-Sync didn't require me to get a new monitor then I'd very likely go with Nvidia.

It's mainly personal preference if you like Nvidia's features go with Nvidia but if you like AMD's features go with AMD also as of now you have to wait for AMD features to either come out or just to be non-beta(or full version) and Nvidia's features are pretty much almost all ready to go and working

Mantle is still just words and numbers for now, and yeah AMD price is a joke nowdays thanks to miners unless you live somewhere uneffected by the price change. So its up to you, do feel lile gambling with mantle?

Essentially it comes down to this, nVidia is good for FLOPS (floating point operations) whereas AMD is good for IOPS (integer operations). 

 

Mining is reliant upon integer operations and hence will work better than AMD. I'm not sure if the link I provided is good, but essentially it's because AMD cards have more ALUs than nVidia cards, a quick google will find multiple articles on this, at different levels of technicality, so you probably should just google and you'll find something helpful.

"free sync" on the laptop is called eDP (which has been around for a while now) and on the desktop it will be called DP1.3.  Given that DP1.3 is about to be ratified and that AMD is going to be pushing panel manufacturers to adopt it, I don't see it taking that long to come out.  G-sync sounds like it is a draft version of DP1.3 anyways.  The pricing is probably closer to competitive now as AMD was seriously under cutting Nvidia there for a while.  How is mantle gambling?  BF3, StarCitizen, and some good titles will have it.  It will be easy to port games from the consoles.  It will reduce CPU load. The only thing we don't know is by how much of a boost it will improve the already competitive performance of GCN based AMD cards.

AMD's project "free sync" is just them pointing out that the industry was already planning on (in the case of mobile had) implementing variable refresh rates in LCD screens.

BF4 is the first of a growing list of titles that will support AMD Mantle.  Even at CES there were a few more game devs showing off stuff they could do on Mantle that were impossible with DX....

Uhh Bf3 Don´t have it and won´t have it, and the one for BF4 was Delayed, and yeah exactly, we don't know how much mantle will really help so its just Hype and nothing more, whatever AMD "claims" don´t mater because its just marketing. until we se the real deal ourselfs and from good sources like Linus or any other reviewer its just happy thoughts. but yeah you know how people are, they jump on the Train because "Fanboys" so meh

I´m not saying Mantle is bad, just another happy thought. Personally im 50/50, i will test out BF4 (with mantle) with my R9 280x´s but if my GTX 690 outperforms it or equal then..L_O_L .... ill keep using my 690 and use my 280x´s for mining.

As for ported games, ok it will help but it wont solve Bugs and crappy control settings, glitches and whatnot. and in my opinion this is the biggest issues, not FPS. but we will se...we will se....so...name one Console port game with mantle that is coming, not BF4, an actualy Console game that is coming to PC.
