Forum Notifications

When I receive a notification one of two things happens:

 

1. If I have the window open, I receive a notification in the bottom left of the window with a short summary on what it is and what thread it is in. I also get a +1 to the number on the notification drop down.

2. If i an tabbed out, I receive a desktop notification.

 

The suggestion I have applies to the first. When I click on the notification I receive in the bottom left of the window, the notification stays unread in the drop down bell at the top right. Is there anyway to make it register as "read" when I click on the summary that pops up on the bottom right? (but not other unread notifications, if any).

 

Also, is it possible to introduce a way that marks a notification "read" in the drop down bell only after being clicked on, instead of all notifications being marked "read" when I click on the bell? (sorry, two kinda different things)

yah the first thing would be really nice, second i care less about but having to go clear the notification from the bell menue after already having clicked it and seen it can be a bit annoying

Both of those have been suggested to the forum software devs several times in the past, but unfortunately they haven't shown much interest in changing it. Those two changes would probably need to be implemented at the same time if they were implemented though, because there would need to be support for marking individual notifications as read.
