Should i get a 144Hz monitor???

Dizz_Man

So I'm looking at 1440P 144Hz monitors. Is it worth me buying one when I have a i7 3770 and a GTX 1060 6GB or will I just be wasting my money? I guess I mostly play e-sports games like CSGO and Overwatch, I also play low system intense games like Factorio. I do like BF1 though

My next system will be a while away and I plan to reuse my 1060 in said system

i play competitive overwatch a lot. i bought a 1080p 144hz monitor and it actually makes a huge difference, i never thought a monitor could actually make me better

i wouldn't get a 1440p 144hz with a gtx 1060, i have a 1080 and mine is 1080p and i wouldn't want to go higher res

but for shooter games 144hz monitors really give you a advantage

Ever since I bought my AOC 144hz 1080p display I simply don't enjoy playing fps games on my older gaming laptop that has a 60hz screen. I think if you go for a 1080p monitor you won't be disappointed, plus your 1060 should have more than enough juice to handle it.

The i7 3770/GTX1060 combo can run Overwatch and CS:GO at 144Hz on low setting even at 1440p, your CPU will be bottlenecking that 1060 but it'll push 144fps, you can also overclock that i7 to from 3.9 to 4.3Ghz if you happen to have a Z- series motherboard.

in BF1 both the GPU and CPU will bottleneck a 1440p144hz monitor, you will need to lower the refresh rate down to 100Hz cause that's where the fps will be hovering around. So, i would say a 1440p144hz monitor is worth it but be prepared to upgrade both your GPU and CPU in the near future for newer games.

I have 1440p 144hz samsung paired with non OC'd 4770k and 1060gb and it runs just fine. Stuff like LoL is constantly with no dipping below 144hz at everything maxed.

That's LOL, in BF1 that i7 averages around 115fps on a full server.

It's going to depend on what you play.

TL;DR: Overwatch/CS:GO-Yes

            Minecraft/Facebook-No
