1440p with 1060

Recommended Posts

Posted · Original PosterOP

Hello, i have been thinking of getting a new monitor and im stuck between 2 options, 1080p 144hz or 1440p 165hz G-sync. I run gtx 1060 6bg and i play games that arent too heavy, like WoW, osrs, lol and csgo. Would u recommend me to get 1440p screen to be "future proof" or stick with 1080p? Im planning of getting 1170 as soon as it launches. Thanks for answers.

1080p is not enough for today

1080p is fine until you stretch it past 27"

I like 1440 better than 1080, as long as you pick a size to match, 27" 1440,  24" 1080. dpi or pixel density starts to matter more with the larger screen sizes, and higher resolutions.

I don't really care much for a high refresh rate, give me a crisp clear isp panel instead.

Silent build - You know your pc is too loud when the deaf complain. Windows 98 gaming build, smells like beige

My GTX 970 does fine with CS:GO at med settings 1440p 165hz, so I'm sure you'd be perfectly fine there. (I run med settings so my FPS stays closer to 200+, though my drivers or something have been acting up a bit lately, so I've only been getting around 160fps. Still perfectly smooth at that. You'd be able to max it easily if you drop the resolution to 1080p. I just run it windowed fullscreen, so it's stuck to 1440p.)

I got this monitor while it was on sale for $330 https://amzn.to/2MaVrE7
Aside from mediocre colors and contrast, it's a great monitor. 165hz G-Sync is wonderful.
