CPU cooler

SuperiorSpidey

Greetings,

I had ordered an Enermax ets-n31 CPU cooler and it arrived today. However, I've noticed that the the hooks of this cooler aren't long enough to notch them in the plastic brackets of my MOBO. Should I apply more force or could this damage my CPU?

don't apply more force unless you like broken hardware. what mobo do you have?

I have tried, though the hooks are not long enough to clasp it.

make sure nothing's getting stuck on other things... sorry I can't be more helpful, hardware support is tough over the web xD. If you want to post pics with it as connected as you can get it I could spot check for ya, try to get one from each side if you do

Make sure that the mounting bracket is in the unlocked position when trying to hook it on.

Not sure if the gap between the bracket and the hook is visible.

Unlocked position? Mind explaining?

Ah, I was mistaken when assuming it used the same mechanism as AMD's stock mounting bracket.

The hook you're using is loose until locked in. You're just not pressing hard enough.

I believe I applying enough force. Pretty scared to press harder, I don't want to damage my 1700x.

The metal hook will bend before the cpu is damaged. Feel free to push harder onto it.

No luck, hehe. After some research I've found out I'm not the first who struggles to clasp that thing. I guess I'll have to contact with their customer service.

Those were my thoughts during that time. In the worst case scenario I'll have someone to build it for me. I hope they don't charge much.

Have you ever encountered such an issue?

If you mean having to apply a fair bit of force to install a cooler, that's not uncommon.
