Will a 1050 ti and Ryzen 5 1600 work well together?

So I’ve had a crappy PC for the past few years, with an AMD A10-5800k and 16 GB of DDR3 RAM, with an SSD and a 1050 ti. It finally died a few days ago. The drives and the GPU still work, and I wanted to upgrade to a Ryzen 5 1600 and 8 GB of DDR4 3000mhz RAM. I’ll use this rig for gaming and messing around in Unreal Engine 4. Will this be a bottleneck? Is this a good build?

1050ti isn't ideal for the 1600 but you can get stuff done with the combo

You could go to a 1500X and get a 3G 1060 if you don't mind 4/8 instead of 6/12

It will work well together, yes, but the Ryzen 1600 is more suited for GPUs like the GTX 1070, or 1060. nothing is wrong, just that the CPU won't be anywhere near full load, and you could easily step down to a 1400 or even an overclocked R3 1200 with virtually no performance loss. (IMO 1400 + GTX 1060 would be a great combo)

nothing wrong with that combo but the GTX 1050Ti is more of a e-sports GPU where users will go for 1080P low for highest FPS

bumping up to high and the GTX 1050Ti will struggle with AAA games

what i would suggest like the rest is go for the Ryzen 5 1500X which is a 4 cores 8 treads CPU and bump up the GPU to the GTX 1060 3GB minimum.

what is your full system budget?

My budget is about $500 (for upgrading), but I don’t know if I should sell my 1050 ti, as I’ll only get about $120 out of it, since it retails for $180 currently.

Do you want to keep your old system? Only the drive is going to work for the new one. You could sell the old system, not sure what you would get.

What country are you from? I'm guessing USA with the retail tag on the 1050ti.

The old system is somewhat malfunctioning, so the only things I could sell from it would be the 1050 ti and the 16 GB of DDR3 2400 RAM. I live in the U.S.

Same shoes as my secondary computer lol. I'll do a round with a better video card. So you don't need a case. Your storage is bad too?

The ssd and 1tb storage drive are fine. I’m reusing the case I have.

Unless you can push your budget. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/CZRj3F

I did the 1600x cause it wasn't much diff in price. You can still substitute the 1600.

Well above your budget, you can always upgrade later. Cooler may not be compatible this is just to get an idea of price.

Yea i guess go for a better CPU over GPU now.

1600 will do better in 2018 games.

Upgrade the GPU later

We can be 1050ti buddies, sorta my other rig is a 970.

But ya the 1050ti will do fine for medium 1080p for now.

Update:

I have decided to buy the 1600 with a B350 PC Mate from MSI, 8Gb of 3200mhz RAM, and stick with my 1050 ti for now (and may sell it later). Thanks for your help with my decision on what to buy.
