70C too much heat?

Prodigy22
Go to solution Solved by Loot,

under 80c is generally safe

Hey guys quick question,

I have an Asus UX430 laptop, it has the i5 7200u CPU and Intel HD 620 graphics.

I recently started playing PUBG and I'm getting around 15-20 silky smooth 720p fps. I know it doesn't meet the requirements burn it's fine for the occasional time I play with friends. Anyways question is the cpu jumps up too 70C-75C during gameplay. Is it safe to play for a couple hours or will that damage the cpu?  Thanks!

I personally consider 70ºc Perfectly good temps for gaming (thats what i keep my 4790k at), Though it's technically safe up to 80ºC (in some cases 85, or 90º depending on the actual CPU)

75C is fine, i would worry only if it gets closer to 85C. clean out the dust and replace the thermalpaste if you want to potentially bring the temps down a bit

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

That's fine. The CPU can sit at those temps fine without causing any damage. Generally, below around 80C is safe.

Heat is fine, under 80C is perfectly safe, you just start getting thermal bottlenecking in the 80-90C range or the PC can shut down if it gets really "too" hot.

Also this made me ROFL. Not because I am making fun of you, but because I have totally been there, where I was like "I can see my guy move! This game is totally playable! :D

Haha thanks, yeah I know it's not a gaming PC by any means. The fact I can play at all is a win ?

Think of it this way...

Below 80*C = Green(cool)

80-84*C = Yellow(average)

85-89*C = Orange(hot)

90*C and higher = Red(dangerous)
