laptop for dad

Im looking for a laptop for dad. I dont know what's on the market for laptops but these are the specs I am looking for in a laptop. I'm doing my own research but I like to get some feedback so I dont get something that is absolute rubbish.

Battery life: 8hrs

CPU: i5

GPU: not important

Storage: 500gb sad

Memory: 4gb

Screen: ips, 1080 or greater

Build quality: prefer aluminum

Weight: not a brick

Macbook Air 13 inch? I personally dont have one, but my non-tech savvy cousin does, and he loves it. However if your dad is more tech savvy, probably something like an aspire s7 is better.
