Hello LTT forum,

 

I am very new to windows and pc's, have used macs my whole life but now that I'm in college and pursuing an engineering degree I need some more power. I would be extremely if you all could help me build the best system for what I need to do at a relatively inexpensive price. I use auto-cad pretty frequently and would also like to play some games (PUBG, overwatch, gtaV etc.). What is the best computer I can build for around or under 600-700$ that could easily handle those two things. Ive been watching LTT for approx. 2 years now so I understand how to build a computer but I am overwhelmed by the amount of computer components. Thank you very much for your help in advance, I'm very lost right now.

Do you need a monitor, keyboard and mouse in that budget? If no then how much can you spend on them?

Nope I already have all of my peripherals, around 600$ purely on the system.

I think you dont need too much power on cpu but gpu you need the best of now. Get a used one from ebay, i saw them for 150$ is like a 1060 but 10% less powerful.

This one is acomplishing the 600$ max. if you want more cpu power get a I5 7500.

a huge difference  ones a dual core and ones a 6 core go with the 1600

Planning on buying @deXxterlab97 build. One last question, need a monitor recommendation. What is the best monitor for the cheapest price. Decided I'm going to upgrade my current ones. don't need 4k or anything fancy not very particular.

anywhere from 20-25 inch, res and IPS are not important. Obviously at least 1080p.

Why not a Ryzen 5? With a 1400, it can easily fit into the budget, and you would still have room for a pretty satisfactory graphics card.

ughh.. 16$ extra. well I saw used 980 for 200 on ebay. so this should be the best you can get. If not get 970 for 150$ and the total should be 668$.. something

yeah but not with a 1050 ti, regular 1080p non UW would suits better imo
