Game Boosts Higher Than Unigine?

Go to solution Solved by xyameax,

The difference between Heaven and Runescape is how much of the resources are used. A synthetic benchmark stresses the specific hardware (in this case, your gpu) to more substanially using 100% the entire time. Runescape is a real world game, and although it does use the gpu, it will at no point stress it like the benchmark.

You should not be concerned about it being clocked higher in some games. It will not be doing the same damage like a synthetic benchmark.

After weeks of testing I came to the conclusion that +140 on the core & +700 on my 3GB GTX 1060 Gaming X with voltage & power limit set to max was the best stable choice. At these settings it stayed locked at 2050Mhz on the core & 4705Mhz Memory for 5+ hours in Unigine Heaven & Valley. Whenever I tried to add more than +140 the 2063 & higher clocks were never steadily maintained for an extended period, even with fans keeping the card under 62C. Either I'd hit power limit of 1 & the card would significantly throttle down to 1800s or it'd just gradually drop the 2050 I came to accept. Now however after finally testing this OC in my main game RuneScape, I'm seeing core clocks regularly hit 2075Mhz while running around.

1: Should I be concerned about running it at this higher than tested clock speed?

2: Should I simply just play the game at this OC for a week or month & if it's okay then don't worry about it?

Just now system partly locked up but unsure why, had to restart as it was taking several seconds almost a minute for any inputs in-game or on my desktop to respond. Hopefully that was just something with Windows & not an unstable OC.

A little but mainly RS3, I have a sneaking suspicion I'll have to reduce my OC until it's going no higher than 2050 in-game though.
