Will a 1500x bottleneck a 1070? - personal build

da_knug

So I have been looking into building a new PC and was just wondering if a R5 1500x would bottleneck a GTX 1070? Additionally I wonder what you think about this part list, if you have any suggestions to replace any parts or something like that.

  • MSI B350 Plus Motherboard
  • AMD Ryzen 5 1500x
  • MSI Geforce GTX 1070 Gaming x
  • Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB (3000MHz)
  • Phanteks Eclipse P400S
  • Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD
  • Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD
  • Corsair CX550M 550W 80+ Bronze

PCpartpicker says it's 1077usd (about 1350usd in Sweden :() and i'd like to stay close to that price point.

Thanks!

It shouldn't. It's a bit better than most i5s, and those are often paired with a 1070. You should be fine.

I don't believe that the 1070 will be bottlenecked by the 1500X. The only thing I would be iffy about is the CX550. But other than that, the build is solid. I would prefer for at least a gold rated PSU, something like an RMi series from Corsair or an EVGA PSU, but your mileage may vary.

Build goes here :) :

CPU: Core i7-5960X                        Storage: 500GB Crucial MX200                      Case: Corsair 760T (White)

RAM: 32GB G.Skill TridentZ RGB                   6TB WD Red                                     Other stuff goes here :)

GPU: Nvidia TITAN X (Pascal)                         1.2TB Intel 750 series PCIe SSD      Other stuff goes here :)

Yeah believe it or not a g4560 won't bottle neck anything up to a 580/1060, and since the 1500x is more powerful you should be fine.

oh wow it's even just a dual core, Thanks!

I'm not that concerned with electricity, But I'll think about getting a gold PSU. Thanks!

The efficiency doesn't correlate to anything but pennies saved on your power bill per month.

The CX550M is good enough (with gray sticker, the one with green is bad).

It wasn't the efficiency that was the largest concern with my statement (but that does help), but more or less the quality of the PSU. I'm not saying that the CX550 is the worst thing that you can get because it is not, stepping a bit will allow you to get a better quality PSU that will last longer, but again, it's not the end of the world.

Ah I see then i misinterpreted you, that's a good point, better pay a little more now and save some headache later.
