BIOS error with E8400

Hello everyone,

I have a problem with an old PC. I've got a Fujitsu Esprimo N2540 PC which came with a Pentium E2220 CPU. I swapped that for a Core 2 Duo E8400 and now I can't get it to boot. I always get the "no microcode update loaded for booting processor" error message. I tried updating the BIOS, but that didn't help. I specifically chose the E8400 as the N2540 was available with that CPU, so I thought it would work. Is there any solution to this problem?

there are 2 different C2D E8400 around... one with C Stepping, one with E Stepping. The C model is the older more compatible one.

I got an old Socket 775 mobo here that runs the C Stepping E8400 but not the E Stepping one. Could be the same problem with yours.

I think the C stepping ones were the SLAPL MALAY

Main System:

Anghammarad : Asrock Taichi x570, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X @4900 MHz. 32 GB DDR4 3600, some NVME SSDs, Gainward Phoenix RTX 3070TI

System 2 "Igluna" AsRock Fatal1ty Z77 Pro, Core I5 3570k @4300, 16 GB Ram DDR3 2133, some SSD, and a 2 TB HDD each, Gainward Phantom 760GTX.

System 3 "Inskah" AsRock Fatal1ty Z77 Pro, Core I5 3570k @4300, 16 GB Ram DDR3 2133, some SSD, and a 2 TB HDD each, Gainward Phantom 760GTX.

On the Road: Acer Aspire 5 Model A515-51G-54FD, Intel Core i5 7200U, 8 GB DDR4 Ram, 120 GB SSD, 1 TB SSD, Intel CPU GFX and Nvidia MX 150, Full HD IPS display

(Abit Fatal1ty FP9 IN SLI, C2Duo E8400, 6 GB Ram DDR2 800, far too less diskspace, Gainward Phantom 560 GTX broken need fixing)

Okay so I found the solution, I doubt anyone will need it in the future, but if so, here is what you need to do. The motherboard supports the CPU but loads the incorrect microcode if you flash the BIOS with the original processor. What you need to do is download the latest BIOS the USB Stick version from Fujitsu's page. Run the program, follow the instructions. Install the "unsupported" CPU and plug in the USB stick. Change the boot order so the USB stick is on top of the list. Restart. It will ask if you want to flash the BIOS, hit "y" then enter. Done, it's that simple.
