Ryzen 7 Streaming While Gaming

Hey guys!

So having the Ryzen 1700x for a few weeks now I had gotten some requests to show what it was capable in terms of gaming while streaming. Did a full review that I will post on my profile, but as always won't post here for forum rules.

So I tested 5 games

GTA V

Battlefield1

DOTA2

CSGO

Overwatch

Here is the settings and rig I used to conduct the tests.

After testing multiple games here are the benchmarks. I got better FPS in most games in 1440p which isn't a shock as that puts more burden on the GPU and Ryzen lags behind in single core performance which allowed more CPU power to be put towards streaming.

There was 0 quality loss across the board, I actually got better than 60 FPS on all games while streaming at the same time, here is sample from the review.

It's legit people, you wanna game and stream Ryzen definitely performs.

Around what percent of CPU usage is streaming instead of gaming on there?  Just curious.  (Let's say with CS:GO 1080p)

How did you get the same footage for both streaming and non-streaming in battlefield 1? Given it doesn't have a built-in benchmark, and that footage seems like multiplayer.

Pretty even, split about 25-35% on all cores.

OBS allows for streaming and gaming same time. It was multiplayer.

Also used MSI Afterburner and RIVA for the Usage and FPS counter in half the games and Fraps in the other half.

no 4ghz on the 1700x?

It's acctually not that easy to get 4GHz on those CPUs. You need to have decent luck to acchive that. Or using 1,5V lol

And those additional 100MHz wouldn't make any huge difference.

I'm waiting for my R7 1700, and I will be happy if I get it stable at 3,8GHz on all cores at under 1,4V.

Yeah I just got my 3200 corsair ram kit from 2400 I was using. Got it stable at 3.9 gh and 2993 on the ram.

And what voltage are you using?

Temps under load?

Temps never break mid 50's under load, got it stable with 1.3250 voltage on the CPU and on the ram I have it offset but it usually is around 1.35

Sounds pretty decent.

Hopefully I will get chip similar to yours aswell :)

Yeah man, anything above 4.0 is silicon lottery territory, people forget that its all 8 cores overclocked, not just 4 so harder to get higher clocks. I got 4.0 like I said but had to lower it for stable ram, and Ram speed makes a huge difference in FPS for Ryzen due to the way SMT and resource sharing works on the chip.

I will be using Dark Rock 3, which can handle up to 180W ... Ryzen isn't using that much.

Even if my chip can handle 4,0GHz on all cores, that cooler will be enough to cool it down. But I'm perfectly fine with 3,8GHz on all cores, as long as it's stable to run like that for 3 years.

Well wattage shouldn't ever be an issue, just get a bigger psu.

I have a Ryzen 7 1700 at 3.9 but I was curious what mobo you had ? My gigabyte x370 Gaming K7 can't bring my Corsair 3200 kit above 2400 at seemingly any voltage. What offset did you dial in?
