Haswell-EP vs Broadwell-EP

I was wondering if the Broadwell-EP Xeon processors offer significant performance improvements compared to Haswell-EP. It is very difficult to find Qualified Sample Broadwell processors but it is much easier to find Qualified Sample Haswell processors. I've also noticed that the Haswell Xeons have a rectangular heat spreader. Do the Haswell Xeons require a particular cooler?

Broadwell has marginally better IPC. Other than that, no.

 

Any cooler for LGA2011-v3 will work for either Broadwell-EP/Haswell-EP.

The difference is pretty small. And no, they don't require a specific cooler. If you're comparing SKUs of the same number of cores the difference is pretty minimal. Broadwell only has ~5% higher IPC than haswell, max.

Haswell EP only supports up to DDR4 @ 2133 MHz compared to DDR4 @ 2400 MHz with Broadwell-EP. Does faster memory make much of a difference?
