Are Solder Ball Failures Still Common In Laptops?

The reason I ask is because my Asus GL551 ISN'T under warranty. 

 

And it gets really frikkin hot.

 

My gaming temps are usually in high 80s, after repasting with quality non conductive paste. The cooling is functioning correctly, they just decided to not really run the fan much. Its actually quieter than my mom's dual core proboook playing candy crush.

 

While these temps are within the safety margin of laptop parts, I don't want my beloved 960M failing on me in a year.

 

Anyone got any input on this?

my GT540m likes to randomly disappear on me every so often, but i seriously doubt thats solder balls, but rather whatever cheap parts samsung tossed around it to make a laptop barely twice the price of the price of the CPU

every so often i turn the thing on, and it fails to detect the presence, just running off of intel integrated, nvidia drivers being all like "hell bro, dont ask me"

 

usually a reboot makes everything normal, and i havent had it since i reinstalled wynderk, so that's a thing as well.

the lead free solder has generated way higher defects in electronics and the amount of dead electronics in the trash yards have grown way bigger than they used to
