Haha, that's a completely different topic and I could spend years talking about it. My opinion is that fidelity is cultural and there's no reason not to do away with it, if you want to. I can cite a couple cultures that did real well without it, the example that pops in my mind is Icelandic Vikings.

 

But I'm not telling you to stop being loyal and asking the same back from your partner, just know that it's your decision to do so.

Why ban something for adults just because something might be harmful to children?

Maybe. But do you think sex should be the equivalent of coming over for a movie. Or do you think it should be this anticipated thing to find someone special you love and do it with? 

 

It depends on person to person, but as a whole in a culture. Right now I feel like, atleast the culture in the United States is making it into something commonplace and something that is considered a must have before you've reached your late 20s

I agree with your argument. But being devils advocate; cars are restricted to adults (licenses). Alcohol is restricted (identification). Pornography on the internet is currently not restricted. 

 

So instead of outright banning, do you feel like it should be restricted or have no restriction what so ever?

I agree, wholeheartedly, but I'd like to turn this into a "what's my alternative?" discussion. How do you make sure kids don't have access to porn before they're ready for it? I say this especially for kids that are below sexual age (say, 10 or 11) and might be directed there by a troll friend and become shocked for life.

It depends on what you're personally willing to do. I think it can and should be both. And you should be able to express different levels of love through it. Think about all the people who go to the club to hook up for a night. They get to experience a connection that's not as close as it would be with a friend, even if that won't be as close as a mate.

 

That said I commend and applaud the person who vows to only give thier body to one person at least for a bounded length of time. It speaks of commitment to something more.

As I said above, any ideas on how to enforce porn to people of age? Here's one: require an online payment if only a small one. At least that will mean that the minor will have to go out of their way to steal a credit card to do it, and then they'll get caught and into big trouble. I'm not against the idea of porn only for those who own a credit card of their own.

 

And thanks to security certificates the tech we have today would help mitigate sites exploiting this measure.

This is easily solved. Simply change your DNS. Australia did the same thing with sites such as thepiratebay, and within half an hour it was shown to be utterly pointless (BTW, switching DNS in Australia helps get rid of the connection issues with Optu$, and Helstra-so some people here didn't even need to do anything to remove the block)

This reminded me of a hypothetical situation:

 

Assuming I'm a PhD student doing research on sexuality and I am sitting inside Starbucks. While it's true that I can bypass the government block by using a virtual private network, people can still see what I do by glancing at my back. If a legislator successfully proposed that people browsing porn should be arrested, I could get incarcerated if let's say a barista ratted me out to the authorities even though I'm doing research and not being a sexual predator. Not to mention that there's now a probable cause because the barista saw my browser tabs filled with naked people and images that suggests pornography. While I can have myself defended by an attorney on court, that will just cause me more expenses and a delay in my research.

 

That's why this porn ban is silly.
